    Electrical problems

So, a little while back, I drained the batteries in my 257 Grady White Advance. Ever since then, well, at least i think this event kicked it off but now my electronics wont work. My accessories (pumps, lights, horn.. ect.) work but my chart plotter and VHF wont turn on.

When i go to turn on the chart plotter (Furuno Navnet 1834c) it flashes a white screen for about a quarter second and goes off. so i know its getting electricity. The vhf (icom) doesnt even show a sign of life. I have tried every little thing i could think!!!!

can you give me a lead?

check your grounds, but most likeky you fried your batteries and you do not have enough amps to run your electronic.
    Thats my educated guess.

Can you start your engine(s)? Are you still using the same drained batteries? If so get new ones.

completly drained batteries won't hold a charge for as long as they used to. If your batteries were low, and you tried turning on your electronics, chances are you could have blown few fuses out (as voltage decreases, the amperage increases).

A jump pack is a great source of power for electronics.

To bad your not in jersey!!

I have checked the fuses and re tightend the screws on the boards. The engines will turn over. I even cleaned the connections with woody wax which claimed it will help. Nothing. Went through the trouble shooting guide.. Nothing.

I plan to go purchase a battery and replace the one the electronics run off of. Is this a bad idea or do i have to purchase two?

Sea Sparks.. I noticed you were a marine electrician. Would you mind leaving a number? I can call you with full details if you wouldnt mind. I really appreciate it.
