    Electrical Issue--Stumped??

Looking for some help here, before hiring a mobile tech to problem solve my electrical issue.

I have a pair of batteries connected to a battery selector. When my boat is not in use, I keep the battery charger on but have been having problem with one battery cooking...I replaced both batteries and the battery charger to make sure they are in compliance with each other. The one battery that was cooking, still seems to have a draw of power even when all systems are off (battery charger off also). Why would one battery have a draw when all systems are off? I can tell that this one battery is losing power ie. goes down to 10v or so while the 2nd battery stays fully charged...something must be pulling power while off..At first I thought it was the bilge pump running when it rains, but we haven't had rain in weeks and the bilge is dry...attached is a schematic if that helps...is there a way to find or trace where the short is?

Do you have single or twin engine ? what is the make ?

Do you have one or two isolater leads coming up from the engines ?

how many batteries and switches ? Just the float switch ?

How many banks is the charger and is there a battery isolator installed?

What is connected constant hot to the batteries ?

looking at your schematic I presume it's bat #1 .the best way to check it is hook amp meter in series with Pos cable at bat and see what it's drawing. should be milliamps if not start turning off breakers on that leg of main panel until draw goes away. The draw is big enough its always keeping that leg of charger on max and cooking battery.

It is battery #1...I will check the draw and isolate the problem one by one. Good thinking. Thanks so much.

    Thanks to Mark

Problem solved. After running through each breaker I found a spike coming from the emergency bilge pump, which was drawing amps despite being off. Turns out it had been faulty and I replaced it. Great help on this site when people want to help, and aren't distracted by loud mouth nonsense or by asking questions answered in the original post. Thank you Mark, great help from you my man. Kahi

    Hello Kahi
Glad I could help and glad you found it. Now that leg on charger should power down to trickle and not sulfate battery on you also.
I'm freezing my but off up here in NJ ,think I better come down and do test fishing trip with you
