    electrical board

I'm looking to rewire my boat and I'd like to change the board that everything runs though. The board with the fuses. Tried finding some online so I could have an idea of what all they cost but couldn't really find much. Where bouts could I find one?

It'll be for an 88 25' Wellcraft cuddy. Any and all suggestions on the wiring system in general would be great. Let me know if you need any more info on the boat. Also, is there a good book out there about rewiring smaller boats?

    Thanks,
    Tim

    Thanks Giant!

Looks like the fuse blocks are what I'm looking for. Also look like a bunch of other things that I'll be looking at as the project moves along.

    Thanks again,
    Tim

    I hope this helps

Try googling Paneltronics and you will find tons of sources.
Also, I have cut & pasted the following from a web site that may help you in your rewire. Some of these are common knowledge with many experienced boaters and others are not. Actually, this may be good for anybody that likes to fix their own sheet.

Boating Industry of America Wire Colors
Here are the standard wire colors used in the boating industry since the late 70s. When re-powering a boat with a newer motor this is a handy reference. Most boats use these standards but always double check in case changes have been made!
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BIA Wire Color--------------------Where it is used
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Black---------------------------------All Grounds
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Black with Yellow stripe---------Magneto/short to Kill
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Gray----------------------------------Tachometer signal
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Yellow with Black stripe---------Choke
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Red----------------------------------Unprotected(12V+)from battery
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Red with Purple stripe-----------Protected(+12V)from battery
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Purple-----------------------------(+12V)from ignition switch
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Tan------------------------------Overheat sensor to warning horn
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Pink-------------------------------Sending unit to fuel guage
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yellow with Red stripe----Ignition switch to starter solenoid
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Yellow-----------------------------charging stator to rectifier
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Lt.Blue with White stripe--------Trim up
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Green with White stripe-----------Trim down

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some more standard wire colors used on many inboard boats, always double check though, as some vary or may have been changed along the way!
Some standard colors for boats since 1980 are as follows:
    · heavy red 10 guage (main battery)
    · heavy black (main ground)
    · purple (ignition)
    · yellow (starter solonoid)
    · grey (tachometer)
    · brown (temperature)
    · blue (oil pressure)
    · brown with stripe (alarm)
    Accesories
    · pink (fuel sending unit)
    · yellow (blower)
    · brown (bilge pump)
    · grey (navigation lights)
    · heavy green (bonding wire)
    · red (misc electrical add-ons , vhf , depth finder, stereo, radar, power supplies)

Xmas was excellant! The drive up, not so good I79 north of Pittsburgh got shut down due to the freezing rain just as we got there at midnight and the side routes were at a dead stop because Penndot hadnt salted the roads yet. Gotta love the snow belt in the Winter!!

I hope you guys had a Merry Xmas over there and hope you got a chance to talk to your family.

hey Tim... you actually coming home???

hey if you guys get a chance look into the B.E.P. battery switches it sure takes alot of worry away from the charging system. the blue seas products are totaly tit's up but for your main switch system they are worth the time to look. also the new fuses out there are easy to change / reset wiring has become so much more simple than years before ... good luck with it and always hold the negetive tight in your toes and lick the red wires...!

Glad you were able to have an excellent Christmas! Christmas was pretty good here. Spent most of Christmas Eve and Christmas day online with Stacy and the girls.

I used that Blue Seas panel when I rewired my old boat (25 Whitewater) and it worked great, made it simple and easy to get to and change fuses if needed. You can see it in this old pic of the start of the job, funny I didn't take one of the completed project. Sold the boat a few years ago and she is still going strong.
