    Edgewater 265ex

Does anyone have experiance with Edgewater boats? I looked at the 265ex walkaround at the annapolis boat show. Looked like a well built boat with nice features. Does any one have one or ever ridden on one. Looking for opinions
    Thanks

Hands down Edgewater ,they are less of a "production" boat ,I have been to their plant and they don't pump them out the door , almost all their boats are built to order ,not just mass produced,

I have a 2006 model, put in the water brand new this spring. I put +100 hours this summer and like the boat very much. It doesn't get the 2.5 mpg at optimum cruise that the Yamaha Performance Charts state - my optimum cruise is around 28-32mph at about 1.7mpg, which drops to 1.1mpg at WOT (around 6000rpm and 46-50 mph depending on gas tank level and bottom growth). It displaces water to 8 knots but starts pushing water above that until you get on plane at about 15 knots or so. It is has a wide beam for its length and reverse chines, which makes it pretty stable when drifting, but it can ride a bit rough when going hard through waves of 3 foot or more. It handles 2-3 ft chop very well. It definitely feels well built. I have been on some larger Grady-Whites and it seems comparable in quality. It's a beamier boat with more amenities compared to the same length Grady. In the 26 foot category, it seems unique in that there is a cabin that has a vacuflush head, microwave, fridge, stove, AC and a enough height that a 6'0" tall guy can stand upright in, while still being a fishing boat with good sized cockpit and quality fishing features. Most of these features are hard to find unless you get into the 28-29 ft category. I don't know if they changed the design at all since 2006, but for passenger comfort while underway I installed grab rails by the cabin door and at the end of the L settee and for going fore on the bow I had to install some grab rails on side of the hardtop. It is not a walkaround so you need a little more to grab on to when going up front. I plan on taking it out to the Canyons next summer. My biggest concern is the mileage capacity. On a calm day it would be no problem but with bigger waves, I think the wider beam may make it hard to go the speed and distance to do it safely. If you have any specific questions let me know.
