We have new e-tec- 250/s - love them- 1st problem in 200hrs
engine just stopped while trolling. Thought it was ignition switch due to fact that the starter kept cranking after key was released. Installed new switch with same results-engine cranks but won't start. Any one have similar problem/repairs? Our dealer is busy with holiday coming up and may notbe able to inspect issue.
A motor that new that just "died"---- I'll bet dinner it's either no fuel getting to chamber or no spark. Unscrew a spark plug, ground it, crank engine and see if you get a spark from plug. Is primer bulb moving fuel?--- is fuel getting into combustion chamber?--- give it a 1 to 1.5 second shot of ether and see if it fires (momentarily at least).--- then you are narrowing down your problem.
Dumb question--- is safty line properly connected to kill switch?
in australia that motor would cost 20.000 plus fitted.dont worry about holidays i would make sure this dealer would have this motor booked in and fixed asap.all the best
How can you say OUR dealer? He doesnt sound like a good dealer?
If you bought the engine S there then he should be bending over backwards for you. If it is still covered under warrantee then find a better dealer at Etecs expense.
