    Jay,
I am assuming you have the flat one that bolts down to the bottom of the boat and has the shaft log coming off of it ?

Lots of chiseling and a sawzall if I rember right.........oh, and a few cuss words. It was put there to stay no doubt.

The wood was pretty damp under it after we removed it, so we put the lamps on it for a couple of days before we started on the tubes. Trying to cut the wet juniper out to fit the tube was a pain.

I hope you have the shaft log out by the time you read this, let me know how it goes.

    Troy

    Thanks Troy

Thanks Troy and for the call as well, we got the tube out about noon, used a bottle jacke against the coupling and pushed till we were out of tube in the boat, bolted a chain to the end and ran it to a come a long to a piling, almost pulled the boat off the block, but we got it and the boat is still on the stands.

Getting ready to cut the new tube hole.

Glad you got it out Jay,
amazing how that stuff wants to hang on huh ??

I'm glad I called you, I was wondering if you had the same set up as we removed from the old Temptress, thanks for explaining it to me.
Sounds like it will be a lot easier than what we had to deal with as far as cutting the new hole for the tube.

    Good luck,
    Troy

the benifits are so great though...!

No mo' slingin' salt water on your trannys and engine room! plus your not worried about having to look at the shaft log for 3 minutes apiece so you can go home knowing your boats not going to sink.. no more packing the glands... good on ya kids!

Looks like the project is coming along great! Did you have to realign the shaft to the tranny after the dripless packing install?

    Nope

No cause we did not move anything, and we floated the tube in on the shaft attatched through the strut and in the coupling and glued it in place, so the alignment has not changed.

We finished up in the boatyard today, we will be splashing on Monday here are some pics of the final work:

    Wanchese Trim Tab

That my friend is my Wanchese trim tab.

When the boat was repowered in 2000 with the big Cat, all of the torgue from the new motor with alot more power, torqued her over to the side, she is a fairly light boat.

Ritchie Howell, measured a cut the tab for me, and we glued it on, it was perfect.
