what kind of bracket are you going to install on this project, when the time nears jimmy? thanks for the update and info

we're gaining on this rig......
here's a little update for ya'...
the second layer of the replacement core has been laminated into place...after the the epoxy kicks, the seam around the perimiter are filled with west system epoxy followed by fiberglass matt, after this kicks the edges are feathered...this ties the entire back end of the boat together-it will reduce the amount of flex...
that first layer of core is mechanically fastened,as well as laminated to the stringers and the mahogany supports...nice huh ???
the screws and the starboard are removed, they're used strictly for clamping the wood together untill the epoxy laminating mix kicks...
again,i've spoken about this before, notice the use of epoxy ??? i don't like the polyester products for repairs, polyester based products do not have the strength of the epoxy based products-the draw back of using the epoxy is the cost-it's much more than the cheap polyester products-however it's worth it !!!!
the bracket has been sand blasted,it was found to be usable...the bracket will be etch primed, followed by coating in interprotect 200e,followed by sanding and priming for painting
here's a few up date pictures.....
pay close attention to the last picture,it shows what the core looked like when i removed the outer skin....just a little different now huh ??? also note, the core is constructed from 1 piece-it's not pieced together-equally nice huh ????![]()

this was a huge project.....but it's almost done.....
jimmy, i hope my boat never needs repairs like this but if it does it will be delivered directly to your door. period!! keep the great info coming on your work.
The proline in the above picture... What year is this boat? You have me worried... I have a 2000. I do not have a motor bracket. My single outboard hangs off the transom.
Sorry, re read the post and saw it was a 1990... Hopefully they did something differant by 2000.

Heh, composite is not a "cure" for bad construction practices....can have as many or more problems than wood......I am surprised this guy is spending this much $$$ on a Pro-Line.....

I'd cut my losses lol (if I were ever to buy one to begin with)
Anyway, jawz, I have to say AGAIN.....wish u were up this way.......aren't many up this way that give the thought to the projects that you do![]()

the best was when a customer stopped by and seen me removing a fuel tank from a '00 26 wellcraft, the customer was amazed at what he seen, the tank was missing most of the hold down screws![]()
nice huh ???then he got to see the "quality" of the wiring from the factory,as well as how the boat was put together-his word were...i would never even think of buying one of these hunks of crap....
some of the boats are built so bad it's scary-that's why i take pictures...
i'm probably gonna get bashed to pieces on this, but, grady white is among one of the worst built boats,if you seen what they look like below decks you guys would run and hide-i promise on that one !!!
they're built very similar to this pro line.....
jaws you won/t get bashed....if ya do I will send them here to looky looky....pics send a thousand thoughts through your mind. but jaws can fix the boat right
LOL without having even seen below decks of grady's, even the fit/finish I have seen on them is simply NOT up to what they claim, not even close. And it doesn't match the price they are commanding either!
Never impressed me......and the cult following (just like Whaler owners) has never made sense to me.
Now, what you say about the "below decks" makes me cringe even more......
Amazes me how many people buy boats on "curb appeal" only......
is it really that apparent i'm trying to get this job done ???![]()

here's where we're at on this one...
the outer skin has been cleaned of any of the cheap crap polyester resin mixed with aerosil-aerosil is a silica based dust,it thickens the resin-kinda makes it a putty...there's a problem with it though, that problem is simple,it's brittle as well as when used on a pourous surface like wood,it doesn't reall adhere-it's a surface bond...remember all this when you do a repair on your rig,the polyester stuff is dirt cheap,it's cheap for a reason....there are no repairs performed in my shop using the cheap polyester products-i use strictly west system epoxy...do you guys get the idea i don't like polyester based products yet ???![]()
