    I second Capt. Vinny's post. ---- Seaker

I'd go the route of a Downeast for what you're looking for. Single screw diesel. I don't know about the Duffy that was posted though. Some of those 3126 cat blocks were made in France and they've had some problems with them.

There are some good downeast boats around. Vinny knows boats and he's selling them now. You may want to PM him so he can keep his eyes open for you.

I had another thought after my initial post. Knowing the budget, you may want to look at a mid to late 70's bertram in the 31' range. There are a few of them on Yacht world that have been repowered and taken care of or restored for the price range of $125K or less.

    Good luck in the search.

Downeast are the best following sea boats and if your not in a hurry best bang for your buck!

    PAUL MANN.

the best ride of my life was on a 55' foot paul mann...an old boat i used to work on......

single screw so it was occasionally annoying to manuver..however that boat was a captains dream. desined to be accessable (engine room) and have a wonderful ride.

    The BOAT RAISED FISH!
the wake thats thrown off just sets this beautiful shield. It was a wooden boat made from juniper...I am biased to carolina boats.

    but thats just my preference.

Your close enough for a bunch of day trips to see what you like. The Duffy is a good ride as was Chris's boat. Right now the world is your oyster. Get on em look and feel your way around. How is access to service the engine and components? Deck drains cause you intend to get it dirty. Overnight on the boat for giants, fish holds, maybe a genset...See what I'm leaning to here. Take a pad and pencil and begin to mind map your needs and then your wishes. It will begin t draw a clear picture so when the imte is correct you are focused.

You have some great fertile waters to ply with this new rig so time on scene is critical and that should be comfortable. Single deisel is the way to go cause who knows what they are going to jerk us around next season for prices. Speed is relevant. Your location is great and the runs are relatively short. Ten minutes one way or another is nothing and most times you can't run balls out cause the sea state will not allow it.

This planning time is important. If you have family involved or for that matter anyone other than yourself be one hundred percent certain that their needs are satisfied as well. Debi hated my CC but helps me clean Seaker because whe loves being on board. The CC didn't have what she needed in a boat.

Just some thoughts to ponder on

Also, not to be overlooked, are the downeast and chesapeake boats that Bill Judge builds at Judge Yachts in Denton, MD. Their 36 Chesapeake is a outstanding boat and he has a couple of downeast trade-in at the moment. That 36 Chesapeake is a beautiful boat, handles & runs great and if I was not getting out of boat ownership, it would be my next.

Chris- have you ever run one of those? By the looks of them they are perfect for around here.
