    Whats the difference ?
Buy an American flag and take a look where it's made, not in the USA !
Or buy a Chevy bow tie emblem and look on the back of it to see where it's made, you know the symbol of the GM/Chevrolet product and the company that our government gave billions of OUR $ to bail them out,
    Both made in China !

The difference is there are a lot of good choices out there like SMITH,KAENON,MAUI JIM same price and they are made in italy and hold up alot better than CHINA and TIAWAN. COSTA is now owned by an ink pen company.I have seen a huge difference between the coastas i bought 4 years ago when they were made in italy those glasses were way better than the china ones which fell apart in 2 months. Its like this are you going to payfor a ferrari and drive off in a hyudai. If you are paying for quality then you expect to get what you paid for i can get made in china quality at 7-11 for 5 dollars and i would expect it to last 2 months not a 200 dollar pair.

You mean that building(s) in Daytona I went to in February where they werre making em so I could get mine fixed was just pretend?

I have other reasons for not liking them like them wanting 90 bucks to fix what should be a warranty issue but where they were made just don't strike a cord...

They just cut the lenses there and install them and package and ship nothing is actualy manufactured there probly alot of warranty work who knows. I just wanted to let people know that its not the same company the reputation was built on and there are some great alternative brands with better craftsmanship and warranty

Just sent the old 580's in for repair and just as before, no charge. They even sent me a new pair a couple of years ago when I sent some in for repair. I just bought a new pair of 580's last week and will use the repaired ones for backup.

Not a fan of China but if the product works and they are repairing them in the states in a timely no hassle manner then I will continue buying them.

I peel off countless " made in china " stickers every time I see one, the way of the world now unfortunately.

Costa Del Mar still has great optics out of their lenses, unfortunatly you are correct with the china made frames. They are made of inferior plastics, a brittle plastic non the less. I also stay away from Ray-Ban now because of the inferior quality there and with Oakley. Most, if not all are made in China. Although I need to tell you guys the only two companies I live by are Maui Jim and Oliver Peoples.
THe company Oliver Peoples makes an outstanding sunglass. They use Carl Zeiss Polarized lenses with Carl Zeiss mirrors and back side antiglare. If you the ferrari of glasses with superior quality and performance they are worth the 495 I paid for my OP Thornhills.

I have a large sunglass collection and can tell you i have them all and so far the Oliver Peoples and the Maui Jims will remain in my collection

I ordered a new pair of Coasta's for mothers day, and they came in with a broker hinge. I had to send them back, and it took quite a while to get them back. I was not happy, neither was she.

I live in the Keys, and a local company Flying Fisherman makes some good glasses. I bought a pair when my Costa's went back for a broken frame. I was quite surprised how good the lenses were. They make both glass, and plastic lenses, and the most expensive glass lens is about $120. Check out thier website.

You sir have good taste in eyewear. Take a look at Lindberg sunglasses at some point as well. ULTRA lightweight and Zeiss lenses make a good combination.
