Diesel starter solenoid question

Is the solenoid monted to metal and or grounded to its base with a ground wire?. It is important to know if you need an insulated or non-insulated. Low voltage to it will also cause it to arc and fail. I just did a couple of Cat solenoids, where the alternator failed and the battery went low causing the contacts in the solenoid to fry. The Delco type starter solenoids can be rebuilt by just flipping the contacts and hot posts. Works every time...
