    Deck replacement on the "GANNET"

While I was in Va.Beach Striper fishing this Winter,Capt. Mike Romeo asked me if I would be interested in replacing the deck on the "GANNET" for him in March, with March typically being a slow month for fishing for me I decided to take the job. The "GANNET" is a 46 foot Graves, built in South Carolina.
Mike takes the "GANNET" to Hatteras for the Spring so he brought the boat down to Pirates Cove a little early so I could start on it and he can leave from here when we finish up.

After removing the old teak deck most everything semed to be in decent shape. A good cleaning, some paint and new carlings and she'll be ready for the new deck. There will not be any teak this time, just a good solid deck with a good layer of glass and some non-skid............charter boat style !!

Spring time boat work......it means we're getting close !!

You better vacume out those bildges. I had to do it after the fact. What a pain. Are u putting 1/2 inch or 3/4 ply on the decks? Looks like an easy project.. Good luck.. The season is right around the corner..

She'll get a good cleaning and some paint for sure Keith.
I am puttting 3/4 down to replace the old deck. We will probably re-plumb and re-wire some stuff while the deck is off.

I am ready for some warm weather fishing.

John, they are nice rigs. I did see one listed on Yacht World the other day. From what I can tell so far they seem to be well built boats.
The only reason I have found why the deck was rotting in places was where they didn't seal the seams in the teak and the water got in, other than that it was in good condition.

Where are they buily in S.C. ?? do you know ??

I seen that boat once fishing...

what a great riding rig! it wasn't running just trolling but what a neat rig! sucks about the caulking letting go but hey at least you'll keep the carpentry skills up to date... I love the new epoxy's for teak decks but a nice white klegecell deck with non-skid makes ya smile!

    Troy- Are you ......

replacing the tank under the deck at the same time? Seems a shame not to have a fresh tank with her opened up already.
