    Deadrise Skiff Build

I thought I would share some pic's of a 21' Flat bottom skiff I built to crab in the creeks and bays.I was looking for a little skiff on the used market and really couldn't find anything so I figured I would throw something together.Took about 2 1/2 weeks and not a whole lot of money. She is getting side mount stick steering a 30 hp....should be a cool little boat.

    Thumbs up Wow...

Talk about a blast from the past. My dad built one just like that for my grandfather over 40 years ago. He and I use to trot-line in it when I was a little boy. Some of my fondest memories are from days in a boat like that. Thanks for sharing!!

    Aggitated,

I was thinking the same thing. Used to be a load of them around here, used for trot lining. Small outboard's on some, but alot of them had Brigg's & Straton's in the. Used next to no gas, dippin' them Jimmy's Frank

Thanks Guys. She works just right in the creeks and back bays and scoots right along with the 30.
Gene I may be calling I am thinking of building a 30ish net boat this winter.A carolina style hull with a sweeping shear rather than the broken shear of a typical carolina boat, with a small house forward.Just not sure yet of cold moulding or building plank on frame.

Frank, ours had a 25hp Johnson, but, I have seen a couple with the old lawn mower engines. So many memories in that little skiff, so many life lesson's learned!!

The countless hours I spent sitting on a sawed off log, chopping those lips with a rusty hatchet. I cussed it then, but, now I'd give anything to feel the salt stinging the cuts in my hands, and the smell of the "pickle" while I re-baited those lines.

**EDIT** Sorry to jack the thread with my little romp down memory lane!!
