strictley from an appearance view, shiny dark surfaces show ALL imperfections ( fairness) if your boat has a lump or a dip in the hull the dark shiny finish will broadcast it, In master tooling of such parts black gel coat is used for that reason. White or light colors will hide a multitude of sins.
If your hull has a condition called print through ( structural laminate seen through the gel coat) you will hate a dark color over time, if one side of the boat get more sun then the other being at the dock or on a trailer,it will appear through as well unless your builder used a print through blocker Hope this helps
B - FAITHFUL NICE RIG. I HAVE A BLACK HULLED 26' REGULATOR AND I WAX IT 3 X A YEAR.
A CLEANER WAX AND A PROTECTOR WAX BEFORE I GO IN THE WATER
A PROTECTOR WAX MID SUMMER
AND PROTECTOR WAX BEFORE I GET SHRUNK WRAP IN DECEMBER.
IF YOU ARE GONNA FISH HARD YOU WILL GET SOME BATTLE SCARS, BUT WHAT THE HELL.
I WOOD SUGGEST YOU HIT IT WITH A WHEEL AND COMPOUND EVERY OTHER YEAR.
