Oh I don't know.....

Maybe I thought this would look nice!

Here's a scarf joint at the lifting strake.

I guess since it's covered with glass now never to be seen again, you'd probably ask why bother.

Answer is: I have a true appreciation for fine craftsmenship which is a lost art these days, you know with boats falling apart and all

You cannot ignore the physical properties of Wood or Epoxy if you are going to use them.
Its semipermeable..... Moisture content changes with most anything, that doesn't mean it will delaminate... This process has been used for a long time, I still don't understand why you say that it shouldn't be used!

Plywood over plank on frame is not smart.

LOL, I would probably spend the rest of my life board sanding if I answered that question.

Can't you read?

I posted this earlier directly from the book:
"The strip planks become the interior lamination of the finished hull."

"We discovered however, that we can build an exceptionally rigid and strong monocoque by using the basic strip planked hull as a form over which to laminate diagonal layers of veneer."

Ring a bell?

You may have read it from here since you're the expert on epoxy:
And I quote:
"I'm too tired to gone further tonight. If you want a primer on wooden and cold molded construction try these two books;

The Gougeon Brothers on Boat Construction; How to build a Wooden Boat by Bud Macintosh

It's from the Gougeon Brothers Book. You know the one on your recommended reading list.

Chapter and verse.

If I may ask, just what are your credentials? I believe this questions was asked and you never answered it. Stay at a Holiday Inn Exress last night

Cheeks, your claims to this point have little merrit. I have no
association with the Mann family but have high respect for the product
they have been putting out for nearly 20 years. To come on this board and
bash a well respected member of the boat building community with little more
then your unfounded opinion is in poor taste. If you have knowlege of an unsafe
building pratice I would like to hear it, if not then give it a rest.
