#1 - I agree completely

#2 - Not necessarily true - They are building what they know, not necessarily the highest tech, but very functional - Much like chevy (or ford) vs Ferrari

#3 & 4 - Actually the kevlar used in boat building is Kevlar 49, Kevlar 29 is what bullet proof Vests are made of. Carbon fiber definitely has it's place, BUT for my money, I'd rather have glass instead of carbon (at least in the outer layers) - Carbon is extremely stiff but at the same time brittle - it fits much better in a high end racing machine that you replace at the end of the season - Glass tends to wear better over the long haul. Agree completely on a high tech light Wood composite - and you are correct - the skill level required is much higher - Vacuum bagging and resin infusion are pretty much a must - While a glass/composite boat may be able to get away with air bubbles common in hand layup, Kevlar and carbon aren't gonna tolerate it well. Just ask the America's Cup boys that sunk their carbon boat because they had a bad delam on the keel...

For my money, I'll take a bit heavier, a bit slower, and a lot longer life, and one I can repair myself.

I've never been kayaking or built one. I'm not convinced my fat rear end will fit the the coaming! Probaly have to be a custom boat. LOL! My father in law is an avid kayaker, he has built a few.

I had to stop reading after someone said worst construction they ever saw. Made my stomach turn a little even. For sure you guys bashing Paul Mann boats are mistaken or just plain dumb. Paul Mann makes one of the top 10 Fishing boats PERIOD!! Ask anyone that knows ANYTHING about boats. Please don't speak such things again.

Ok .Just when you mentioned kevlar I was thinking kayaks so you must be building sailboats.. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't know of any sf built with kevlar/carbon filer. Can you enlighten me?

What I was actually reffering(and am trying to learn more about as we speak)to is a new 3 dimensional interwoven product. It combines carbon fiber, kevlar and glass in three dimensions. The possibilities for this stuff are really interesting. 20oz resin infused cloth can stop a 50 cal round. As far cyclical loading I am just not sure yet how long it can hold up. The compressive and tensile strength to weight ratio is mind boggling.

cheek's,

your funny....like a white marlin. your in the spread, but you won't bite, and won't hook up. you stay 15 feet off the transom like you've done this before. let's completely change direction's while you let someone know who you are.......besides that, i'm enjoying this. it's apparent you have some knowledge, and well spoken, but enough with the card trick's. show us how you know or we'll beat you up.

Thanks... thats right ... those are some nice rigs too... I checked one of their rigs out when I was at the MA500 in 2002 called the Nutwist...Talked with the builders. I recall they were both charter captains and one of the guys was good friends with Ommie Tillet . I was impressed.
