    Thumbs up Nice work!

Tell your guys they are doing a great job. If you think it's fun now just wait until the next one. It just gets better.
Thanks for the older pics if you get them.

    Danny,

I tell tell them every time I see them.

I have the older pictures on my office computer.

I'll try to post them soon. God knows I have a bunch of them.

I like the comment about having fun compared to the next one.

Well I'd love to do a 65' convertible once my little ones get older and I don't have to keep such a close eye on the little bilge rats.

Come to think of it as long as this one has taken maybe I should get started now.

    some people just dont understand

You know when you talk to non boaters and tell them how much money we all throw into this thing we love so much, they think we are crazy. But then you see a work of art like this being put together and all the custom hand laid work you guys are putting into it. Its amazing some boats arent double what we pay. What ever you are paying for this its gonna be worth every penny and drop of sweat you put into it. This is gonna be a great rig, best of luck with it.

What pitch is that prop? looks a little light. Good work guys. A lot of thought is going into a lot of hardwork. The results= one heluva BOAT. Speaking from someone who has done more than a few carolina express,s! Isnt spinning the hull way worst than eating 2 whole anchovie pizzas and washing it down with a couple bottles of wine and then a beer chaser? Thats how my stomach felt seeing my first carolina hull spinning around in the air! Back to your work. Great Job!

    Thanks Mike!

Those are some awesome shots, It is kind of strange for me seeing the plank on frame style hull being done since all I know is cold molded. I can see the same lines though and that is one sweet looking hull. I love all the finish work inside the forward section. Will any of that wood work be visible once the V-berth is finished? Really impressive, and looks very clean. How long have you been on it if you don't mind me asking?
    Thanks again,
    Danny

Thanks Danny and Tenacious I'm glad to see that you enjoy the pictures.

    Danny,

I have so many photos’ of the boat that it’s sick. I have to admit some of the pictures came out well.

The lines are similar to a Carolina boat and there are elements of a Florida design too.

For this area I don't have to combat those loooooong rollers coming into or out of a jetty so the flair didn't have to be as flat as some of the Carolina boats.

Up here it's more important to be able to slice and power through a consistent in close 4 to 5' wave pattern and shed the water from touching the windscreen. It will also work to keep the windscreen dry while running in the slop on a beam sea.

But she is flared nicely. You can't really see it but there is a bit of a belly also built in slightly beyond the bow.

You can see it as you look to the stem from standing in front of the bow down below the boat as she sits on the cradle or if you were to stand at the sides and look forward. It's slight but it really enhances the shape. That should give is more buoyancy while cutting through 3' waves.

The back has no tumblehome. I wanted it that way so it's less of a reach to handle a bill or leader a shark in close. More like a Florida design.

She has a real nice Chine Rail with reverse cup and a slight reverse cup on the strakes.

There isn't a lot of dead rise at the transom for stability at drift or on the hook. There is a good amount of dead rise amidships along with a full-length keel. We expect no more than a 2 degree rise while on plane and the hull will work by keeping the 63 degree bow angle in the water and keeping her ass end squat down. That will give me a nice level ride profile. If it gets really snotty then I'll deploy those large stanless steel trim tabs so her nose stays down.

Some of that mahogany will be seen in the forward berth. We had to seal it so it was easy to dress it up. The laminated frames are awesome also since the lay-up of the laminations was done alternating strips of light and dark wood. The laminated deck beams in the cabin will be visible throughout the boat. We're going for a variation of the Herreshoff style typical New England old school interior.

Ya just can't beat the warm feeling of nice wood just scroll back and check out those cabin soles again.

The project has been going strong for 2 years now. It was started and then I stopped it for a while.

I've ramped up the crew size about 8 months ago and they're going strong so it's exciting to get down to the shed often to see what had been installed.

I decided on this style construction because we run 100 plus miles to the canyons for 2 day trips and there are a lot of days when it's pretty snotty out at sea. So hence the bulky frame and bullet proof hull. She's a little redundant with the bi-directional plywood and glass over the plank but I wanted her that way incase I need to push it.

She's no lightweight boat but she'll ride well in seas that many boats her size won't and that could be interesting during tournament season.

I'll most likely update over the weekend. I have a meeting down there on Saturday.
