DROSE,
Could you please tell me what this is? Is it for a trim tab? I found the picture on yachtworld for the 58 you're building. Thanks, Hunter

How long?
Did you say how long she was going to be and I missed it somewhere? Also what kind of power?
I just put up a few of the new 38 were just finishing up the hull and getting ready to flip. 1st prime and looking pretty good, but then again I am a little biased..... |

Green, My wife doesn't even have the answer to that. Danny, She's 48' and the power is twin Yanmar 8Sy-STP 900HP V8's. So I went by the shed again today. It looks like more things were taken apart than installed. Actually a lot of trial fitting has taken place and it looks like they are ramping up to go through another series of showing a lot of progress. All of the interior bulkheads are out of the cabin and in the shop stacked up, trimmed down and ready for permanent install. They have the cabin decks up for the last time and plastic has been installed over the bilge in order for the decks to get cabin deck epoxied down and bulkheads going in. So here’s a few more pictures taken today: . Side Power bow thruster ![]() Forward bulkhead with capstain wires installed, blue single tube is for the foward fresh water wash down fitting. The 2 hoses to the left and right of the knee are the drains for the rope locker. How many boats are built with solid oak knees that are slightly under 2' thick? None that I know of. The heck with some of that light weight technology. They had some things right back in the day. We are using light weight components but this hull is a beast and it will be so quite with the layers of mahogany and multiple overlaping layers of Okume ply and multiple layers of glass. ![]() Profile of the bow. ![]() The bow is getting faired in. Microbaloons are being sprayed and sanded, ![]() ![]() And more work getting done on the upper helm area. ![]() ![]() Those plywood panels will be trimmed down to height of the framing. The custom cabinets that were in place last week are now removed and are back in the wood shop getting prepared to be worked on with my last design implemented. There is slightly over 6-2' of clearance in the engine room down the center. I can stand up comfortably in there. Last edited by Fortunate One; 10-25-2008 at 10:56 PM. |

Thanks Nick,
If your 53' Hatteras weighing in at 54000 lbs is capable of Bimini Starts like this, then I'm really going to have some fun with the same engine package in a boat with 12,000 lbs less weight and less windage. ![]() ![]() I showed that photo with some of the boys and they just loved it. It must have been a blast to leave that new 67' Bertram in your wake. It looks like "Pair a Dice" is throwing a roostertail. Sweet! |
