    More finishing touches.

    Here's a novel idea.

How about a fish cleaning station built into a fishing boat?

Why nobody ever came up with that before is beyond me.

The Corian tops showed up and were installed on the bait/freezer-fish cleaning station.

I've never seen corian tops done on a bait freezer and bait prep station either. It's a throw away item that can be made to look new each season with a little polishing.

This small side door under the cantilevered cabin opens in towards the back of the cabinet. There's another door along the front that will be installed. That door flips up and locks when using the area for bait prep or fish cleaning.

There will be a leaf made to fit between the cabinets and over the steps so we can clean decent sized Yellowfin on the ride home.

That bait freezer lid is a sweet piece of construction. It has 4" of rigid insulation glassed into it. So when it's closed the freezer remains cold without having to cycle on all the time.

Corian top installed at the bait prep sink area.

Built in drink cooler is finished.

Electrical work under the cabin stairs.

We searched high and low for bow chocks that can accept two pieces of 1" thick rope in each chock.

The pieces we found that could handle such a task were too commercial looking.

We found a design that looked nice and modified it to better proportions.

Then we turned it over to Sid and let him do his thing. And like magic, we have custom high quality stainless steel bow chocks that can handle two 1" lines in case the need arises to double up lines as a storm approaches.

These will be let into that toe rail up front.

A lot of these little touches will be over looked by most. But I know what's custom made for this boat and I guess in the end that's all that counts.

    Paul,

I've been feeling like a kid at Christmas since November.

I went to meet with Dave today and I got my first look at the varnish that's been applied to the deck beams, wait until those pictures are posted. They're getting another coat tonight and again tomorrow.

The forecast for tomorrow is for sunshine and 50 degree weather. I feel spring fever coming on.

Dave said the electrical panels are arriving next week and the timing couldn't be better.

I took a couple of pictures with my camera phone but the quality isn't the greatest, but it gives a better perspective of the custom chocks.

To my surprise the 2 wheels were delivered.

    Custom Chocks being installed.

The wheel we were playing with was just for clearance.

I'm ultimately going to get a set of Veems and these beauties will be the spares.

    These are 5 blade 29 x 36.

    Getting closer by the minute.

This is a big week. By weeks end most of the warnish work will be complete and then everything can be installed.

The engine room should be on it's way to completion since the guy installing the grounding circuits should be out of there.

There's still a bit to do before launch but she's coming together quickly.

Here's some of the goodies almsot ready to get installed.

There are more parts sitting on a baker staging that are finished and ready for install.

I just love this fish cleaning area.

    Mike,
Its been a long run, but you can finally see the finish line! Looking great, and I'll see you this week. The brightwork is unreal. How's the stern looking?

    Steve,

The transom has I believe 8 coats of varnish and it's just a matter of getting the lettering applied. I've been reluctant to get it done until we're almost ready to come out of the shed.

The final finish will be a spray applied clear coat. I believe it's the same spray applied clear coat that was applied to the hull.

We're going to need those custom strikes your building.

Almost time to get the cabinet doors hung.

I'm ready to head down there with a few guys this week to push it to the finish.

    Mike

    Mark,

I'm counting down the days to launch and the closer we get the more I can't believe that day is almost here.

What's even more exciting at the moment is the build is going to be featured in a major boating publication. More details on that as we get closer to publication.

As a result of business obligations I was only able to talk to Dave and Bob on the phone this week and although they gave me updates, I've been chomping at the bit to get down there.

Bob called yesterday and asked me how my day was going and I was expecting bad news on top of an already tough Friday.

Then he went on to say, the bait freezer and drink box refrigeration was fired up and got the temperature down to 10 degrees. Granted it was 51 degrees outside but that's still super cold. He checked the freezers with his thermal imaging equipment and he said that the imager could not discern between the perimeter and the boxes. So as efficient as it gets.

The beauty of the system is they are variable, so if I want to stock cases of beer in the bait freezer I can shill them to the perfect temperature.

So here are some of the nice things I saw today.

The corian was glued down to the bait freezer lid. And you'll notice that the small doors that conceal the rest of the cleaning station below the cantilevered tackle station above have been installed giving it symmetry to the cabinet on the port side.

The front lower door swings up entirely and locks to the underside of the tackle cabinet. The small side door swings in and locks to the back of the cleaning station.

    How sweet is that?

To those following this thread along real close, you may have picked up on the fact that the doors to the cockpit cabinets are now installed.

They are push button pulls. You push them in and pull the door open beyond the spring loaded latch.

The cuts have been completed at the helm station to accept the 17" Big Bay monitors. And an access hatch was cut into the deck below the helm station for additional access to the area below the helm.

This will make it easy to access the electronics and to be able to get to the bolt connections for the front tower legs.

    Operational freezer system.

All of the cabinet and cabin doors arrived back from the finisher. They're classic and finished off with a factory quality finish.

They're hung on concealed Soss hinges

I can't wait to see these hung.

And for those that appreciate the finer aspects of quality electrical work, and I sure do, feast your eyes on the major electrical work that has been completed in the cabin.

This work is installed behind the cabin steps. The battery switches will be accessible and exposed behind the steps but the rest of that fine work will be hidden behind a panel that will open if I raise the step to gain access to it.

It's a shame to cover it up. But like a lot of things on this boat, there’s been some quality work that’s been done that will never been seen again. But this work will be seen on rare occasions.

Note everything is crimped and shrink wrapped.
