I see alot of fine touches going into this project. One thing I am seeing on the wire runs might be a problem is in the bends. They look like they are touching and vibration will wear thru over time. Maybe I'm wrong? Still,I wouldn't of like to see some more labeling mid-ship of those wires as they were ran.

The anti-chafe pieces have yet to be installed. It's the last pieces that go on before the boxes get closed up.

All wires are marked at either end. If there's a short circuit, it's easy to pull them through the bundle with a new piece attached to the bad end.

If it's too tight to pull the new wire through then all that needs to be done is loosen or remove the zip ties and replace them after the wire has been changed.

I really had no intention of going to the shed today since I have been down there twice this week. But the weather was so nice and all I had on the schedule for today was to replace a plumbing fixture at the house and I got that done quickly so I decided to grab the camera and take a ride.

The final teak lumber is finding a home as fiddles in the medicine locker and behind the head.

I don't believe any wood has been wasted on this project.

The master cabin is in final paint just waiting for the final coat of varnish to be applied to the sides. But that won't happen until the fiddles are installed on the bunk.

The door frames are being installed.

And the doors are being painted.

How do you make a custom door frame for custom doors?

You start with the finest Sepele mahogany you can find and then you mill it to profiles that you like.

And you laminate it with West System epoxy in order to form it into the shape of an arch to be used at the classic door header.

And when you think you've utilized every inch of the build for storage areas, you find one last area that can be used and you cut in access hatches.

Even though we purchased a custom stainless steel dry riser exhaust system from a company that provides all the engineering and parts there's still some components that have to be fit along the way. So to solve it you turn to the resident stainless steel fabricator who has been supplying custom parts and pieces throughout the duration of the project.

Check out these exhaust system support pieces. They're the balls.

And what exactly does a systems mechanic do besides install running gear, pumps, steering systems, thru hull, valves, power take offs, drip less shaft logs, rudders and rudder bearings, he builds manifolds to eliminate through hulls and does a lot of plumbing.

If you saw the work that went into all of the manifolds you'd think the systems guy was an engineer. He's and the electricians have worked on some of the finest yachts that visit and are berthed in Newport.

What does a master carpenter do when the boat project he's worked on for a couple of years begins to wind down and there's a couple of pieces of teak remaining?

Well make a custom teak shower grate.

Check out thedetail in this grate. He even chamfered the corners of the small openings.

The fiberglass shower pan is tapered towards the drain and the bottom of the grate has teak installed that fits the bottom of the pan. The detail in this piece is unreal.

Here are a picture of it installed in the shower.

Talk about attention to......

detail. I think your carpenter has too much time on his hands. I take him for a week or two, if your not using him.

We've been busy and I have not been on here in a while. We are finishing up the 58' and the 49' Zuess boat and we have a re-fit going and then a 38' so we need somebody to come down and sign up for our next one.
She really is a sweet ride, CONGRATULATIONS on a job well done!!

Fritz,

I've never met a better wood wood worker.

I hate to see him go but eventually he's going to be finished and move onto another project.

I feel like putting him on the payroll of one of my businesses just to keep him around so when I need some wood working done, I have a craftsman to turn it over to.

I didn't know he was constructing that grate until last week.

What a nice touch.

Really tight work. You need to go ahead and splash the boat - I've run out of adjectives to describe the beautiful work
