karenlynncharters, thanks for the info. I like the idea of flooding the tanks for balast. Trust me I know all about snotty conditions we're fishing the same waters. When I was looking over the pictures that you posted I was thinking that large section was a fish box. That's a sweet livewell. I take it that your primary target species is Bluefin Tuna. Good point on hull fatigue. Those Mackerel are looking pretty happy in there.

DR. That's an interesting design and a sweet looking motor. I checked out the web site for the builder, looks like state of the art construction for an alloy boat. That thing is going to scoot along nicely.Keep us posted on the progress and performance.

triniswordfish, Those dress up pieces are available for our engines. I considered purchasing the chrome valve covers but I didn't want to risk a leak and I didn't want to spend the coin.

Shaft angle is 12 degrees. Veem's because of the inserts that allow for fine tuning.

Just a couple of more photos since the last set.

They put one more coat of varnish on the helm pod.

It's starting to look very nice but not deep enough yet.

They cleaned up the interior a bit.

    The sink fits.

How about fresh hot and cold water in the cockpit along with saltwater wash down? Check out that trick mixing valve.

    ,

Not sure if I posted this one but it's the flip up stair access to the engine room with final paint finish applied. Check out the recess built into it to store my hearing protection.

That's about all of the latest photos worth posting.

Dr, I don't recall exactly but I'm 6' tall and if I stand on the keelson I barely have to stoop down. When the planks are installed in the center over the water lines I would imagine I loose about 6" in head room. But there is plenty of height built in to move around comfortably.

We’re installing a 1/4" closed cell foam on top of the center planks. Running fore and aft. This will be nice to help deaden sound and it will be nice to kneel on while servicing the fuel polishing unit.

We’ve installed sound down panels and under deck sound absorbing insulation throughout the engine room. When you’re standing in the engine room talking to someone the sound doesn’t resonate. You can be standing in the engine room while someone is cutting wood on the deck above and you can hear the cutting happening but the sound is really muffled.

If you aren’t considering using the sound down system, I strongly recommend that you look into it. Especially in an alloy vessel.

Achieving milestones on a boat building project are great even if it's something as small as finally having something operate electrically, like LED engine room lights. We got these low profile untis from Imtra. Just doing our share to help the local economy.

They throw a real nice blue/white light that's really easy on the eyes.

The engine control modules have found their home, just a matter of running the harnesses to plug them in.

That bunk is scheduled to be permanently installed this week and all that's left in the forward berth are 2 lockers and the steps that get built on the side of the bunk.

They are going to finish wiring the bow thruster, finish the sole and then mount the bunk and finish building the lockers.

    Hi Fortunate One,
I am not too well versed with the fuel polishing and oil change system-could you please elaborate on this as to the mechanism in which they work and the benefits!! this will help in my planning.
