Shoe,
Excited? Man I’m stoked out of my mind. This is finally the year. A lot of work still has yet to be done, but she's coming together very fast now. Once the helm deck area has been built then the guys can focus on the cabin. There are a lot of pieces that are built but they just haven't been installed permanently yet as a result of coordination issues with the electrical and mechanical systems. One of the latest additions was dual Delta "T" engine room fans. One is installed on the port side between the bait freezer cabinet and the hull and the other is on the starboard side between the cabinet for the valise life raft/safety cabinet and the hull. Those engines need a lot of air and we wanted to be absolutely sure that they have the volume that they need. Plus I get the benefit of having them blow in cool air if I ever have to go down there to service anything while the engines were running. I’m putting the safety stuff in a cabinet in the cockpit. This way I don’t have to look at a canister on the deck or hard top. And its right where I think it should be if it’s ever needed. Safety kit, ditch bag and 6 man insulated raft. I’m proud of the freezer/ fish cleaning station that I came up with. The tackle box above the freezer cabinet is cantilevered off over the freezer box. The freezer box is cantilevered into the engine room so it creates a nice large flat surface area. So under the tackle cabinet, which houses the classic style tackle draws, there is a face plate that looks like it’s a part of the cabinet which is hinges so the area below the tackle cabinet will fold back under the cabinet and create a nice table to clean fish or cut butterfish. Nice to have if the chunk bite isn’t happening. Imagine arriving back to the dock after a canyon trip with the catch all streaked? There’s a table extension that will go across the stairs leading to the engine room which will allow additional room for the big ones. We're still waiting for the struts to show up so we can get the final adjustment to the engine alignment done and then have the shafts sized and tapered. The shafts are sitting below the hull waiting for the struts to arrive. The trim tabs have been installed and adjusted. We've finally worked out the PTO detail to drive the power steering assist pump. The fuel polisher has been installed but that needs another stainless steel bracket made to keep it in place. If you look at the picture of the galley you'll see an opening for an electrical panel above the ladder. The area below that is where the AC panel will be installed. And those are in the works also. All of the copper runs for the freezers and HVAC are in. The units themselves are either on the boat or in the shop. The refrigerator showed up and I'm now selecting fabrics so you know we're getting close. Things like the beaded wood headliners have been made, fit and finished. We're just waiting for the bulkheads to get installed so the wiring can get installed and then headliner and lights which I believe are on their way. The helm pod mock up has been sent to the guy that did the teak deck work so that should be back to us in a couple of weeks. That’s a variation of a Palm Beach pod only a little more modern with the wheel angled towards the helm chair. The systems work will be on going until right up to launch time which we are now thinking will be in June. The launch date has been a moving target but the way that the parts and pieces are going in now, we seem to be in good shape. The tower manufacturer has been selected and we're working out some coordination with regard to perhaps applying the paint finishes for the top sides at the tower manufacturers paint shed. I've decided to go with the option of under hardtop rod storage. It will keep things nice and tidy and easy to get to. I'm not installing rod holders across the back of the hard top, I've decided to have them installed on the ladder legs instead. Easier to reach. It’s going to be difficult to post updates over the next couple of weeks. Things are scheduled to be spray painted and finished out as they require so that means a lot of plastic and tape and a DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door. When you start to realize all of the areas that need to be painted prior to the final coats going on, you begin to realize how much detailing is left. But on the bright side there’s one guy just concentrating on sanding and fairing and one guy concentrating on finishing the louvers and handling the painting chores. So yep, I’m excited. |

Nick, I figured you be lurking and looking for an update.
"Mike- how many times have you run through all that in your head" Shoe --- if you only knew. If you only knew. I'm thinking blood on the decks just in time for the season to get into swing. Hell, I'm just looking forward to a week in Nantucket at this point. |

I could not even imagine how many hours you have spent just thinking this out in your head let alone actually working on it. I,m sure every time you use it you'll appreciate all the time spent thinking it out and not living with somebody else's placement of things like mechanicals and such.
I've really enjoyed the fact of you sharing this build with us and it's the first place I look to see if there's any updates when logging on here. That is going to be 1 beautiful and functional boat when done Myself could never have that kind of patience I would probably be running it for years only half finished. Thanks for sharing Mark |

Well here we go folks. Another update and I can hardly contain myself at this pont. These were taken Saturday.
Let's start off in the engine room. The fuel runs are now complete. The oli exchange system and fuel polishing system with transfer pump are happy living by the starboard engine. They fit nicely under there and are very easy to get to. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Air conditioning systems are finding their homes. ![]() Ok let's leave the engine room. ![]() Running gear is going in now that the stainless steel struts have arrived. The font and back legs of the struts are angled like wings to help provide less resistance while the water flows around them. ![]() ![]() The custom exhaust system has arrived. It's going to take up a lot of space in the engine room. The surge tubes are big pieces. My only way around the engiens will be by the front of the engines. But there's enough room and the shroud at the front of the engine will make sure that I stay protected from the belt. ![]() ![]() The bulkheads are still getting installed and the forward bunk has been mocked up so we can make it as large as possible with plenty of room on either side to get around. ![]() These are the mahogany base boards that the crew built for the cabin. ![]() These are the freezer boxes made on the plugs. They are ready to send out to get the copper wraps installed. The larger one is for the bait flats. The smaller two are for drink boxes. ![]() The louvers are being detailed. I'm so pleased with the shape of these. ![]() A picture from the cockpit. Most the helm deck is coming together nicely. We're on hold on completing as we wait for some parts to come in. ![]() And the best aprt of all. We now have paint being applied to the top sides. This color is Cloud White. It's the first of three coat. It's purpose is to make a base for the next 2 coats. since it was shot in a shed it has a few specs of dust in it but it's not the finish coat. It's what's refered to as a "throw away" coat. It lets us see how well the boat was faired. And looking at it up close I can tell you that this part of the boat is very fair. ![]()
