    Cummins ReCon

Any experience with a Cummins ReCon, or know anyone that has? Price difference vs. new Cummins?

I like this idea and comes with full warranty! Any feedback would be much appreciated.

We have the single 450 in a 98 40ft Robbins (bay built). Those engines are pretty standard for the bay charter fleet around our area in md. We cruise around 21-23 depending on load. Price difference? typically alot less and the warranty is real good. We run ours pretty hard and have never had a problem. Valves adjusted, oil changes etc..etc... no problems.

Hit Seapower - He can tell you for sure. I believe the warranty is 2 Years or 2000 hrs...

I have a couple of friends that have repowered with Recons and been VERY happy

I can't speak to the price difference.

A Cummins "ReCon" is a new engine. They just call them recons because of EPA rules about repowering and emissions on new engines.

B and C series have great reputations. Can't speak about the others, we don't see too many of them.

we repowered a 42 liberty (Reel Steel)with a pair of 450hp recons in the fall. the owners put 50 or 70 hours on it so far. the job turned out very good and they picked up some speed over the volvos we replaced. the motors seem to be brand new and i was told all they had to do to classify them as reman was to use a few bolts from a old motor, i would not hesitate to use them. Cummins also gives a good warranty.

    Excellent engines,
We use a lot of B and C series recon's down here in the Caribbean ,here they are generally preferred over the electronic engines.
