    Skirtchaser,

You can believe one thing for certain, if that were true and I had got wind of it. I'd have bought them until I had no where to put them, no doubt! They (in my opinion) are one of the absolute best engines built in that power range, bar none. If I could afford my "dream boat", she'd have Cummins 6 C 450's, hands down. Frank

cummins re cons in mexico...thats funny!

truth is that cummins made a ton of parts for the bta 6's and other engines and they are great simple engines wit american made quality parts! the 're conditioned' engines are just that! re cons..! and are built 'without' all the electronic b.s. that is mandatory on all the 'new' engines.. the parts are NOT expensive and the engines are very simple. not wanting a pissing match here but for the price dependability, "CUSTOMER SERVICE" and weight to hp in a simple power plant you cannot go wrong... geesh guys don't over analyze stuff right in front of your face! you can buy whatever power you want but in today's market and economics this is a golden egg sitting in front of you... these are motors that don't require a week down time and a $2 - 4k yearly bill to service the coolers also.... oil filters and such do not break the bank either..

I have a complete set up of ray marine e 120 stuff still in the box for sale also we went to a garmin system if you know of anyone who needs the stuff. the recons on the 'fish witch' are going on 5k hrs now .. 1 starter and 1 head that was covered under warrantee.. pretty good track record so far.

According to a couple of Cummins dealers that I'm in contact with every "ReCon" engine that came in their doors was obviously a brand new engine. That's not to say that things haven't changed recently, but at the time I spoke to them that was the deal.

It makes sense that this is possible because as anybody in manufacturing will tell you; rubber bands and atom bombs are all cheaper by the dozen. By using the ReCon title to get around the EPA regs they are able to extend the product's life cycle and further amortize the tooling costs, thus making what should be a dead product into a cash cow.

Once again, that may have changed by now, especially with the introduction of the 6.7 liter engine. But less than two years ago the dealers in my area were seeing new engines.
IE8 says this may be a phishing site....Well, DUH!!!!!!... Stupid jerks can't even spell fishing right.

    Avenger,

Again all I can tell you is what "I" know. The serial numbers on re-cons are totally different than new. But as I eluded to before, different parts of the Country may be handled differently, I dunno. At any rate, the engines I've sold have been as rock solid as the new ones. I see no more warrantee claims with the re-cons than the new ones. Big difference is the re-cons have a 2 year warrantee and the new ones had 1 year. I still can't figure that one out. Frank

Maybe that says something about the emission controlled engines... I'm a firm believer in the KISS principle... Keep it simple Stupid...
