Cross Current U.23 Carbon
Luxury builder CrossCurrent Marine has added the U.23 Carbon. Incorporating a high-tech design and advanced composite structure, the U.23 is the market’s first RIB constructed of proprietary carbon and Kevlar epoxy composite.
Capable of achieving speeds of 45 knots, the U.23 features a teak deck and accommodations for sunning, sitting and entertaining. Other features include a two-seat driving console with integrated leaning post; a rear seat lounge and leaning post that converts to a 3.9-foot wide sun bed, or bench and table; and a front platform extension that serves as a sunbathing area.
The U.23 Carbon’s epoxy hardtop arch design offers multiple benefits including sun protection for the captain, an overhead compartment for installing electronics, support for fishing and sunshade poles, mounting for audio speakers and nighttime deck lighting, and a mounting point for a wake boarding tow line.
The U.23’s relatively vertical bow provides a sharp entry into the water. All of the U.23’s internal surfaces are coated with EVA foam rubber to minimize vibrations and noise, while also providing cushioned storage. The craft’s driving console opens for access to the integrated icebox and tube inflator pump.
The U.23 is rated to carry a maximum of five people in wind conditions not exceeding 42 mph and waves up to 13 feet, and a maximum of 12 people in wind conditions not exceeding 28 mph and waves up to 6.5 feet. The boat’s Hypalon-Neopren tubes are ORCA 1600 DTEX quality, yielding long life and low maintenance. The boat weighs 1,875-pounds without engine, is capable of supporting up to a 250-hp engine and can achieve performance speeds of 45 knots. It can carry 52.8 gallons of fuel and has a 13.2-gallon water capacity. A 5-year hull and tube warranty is standard.
