converting tiller steering to remote
I have a 30 hp 2 stroke Johnson I would like to convert to remote steering/key start to put on an older 13' Boston Whaler. Can it be done? If so, is there a "kit" to do the conversion and where would I buy it? Thanks!

Yes it can be done, if the motor is not really old and is still supported with parts. Key start will only be available if your motor came with electric start. Call your local Evinrude/Johnson and they can get you the kit. I did one on a 2001 Johnson 25hp and it is straight forward. Don't purchase the cheap plastic binnacle, upgrade to the metal one. Get Teleflex Extreme control cables, the cheap (3300) ones don't last. Teflon lube to all the stainless bolts in the aluminum.
