warranty
Contender has always treated me right. I bought an 05 31 new from Sealing Marine in Md. before they sold to Boaters World . I had some hairline gel coat issues and was taken care of without any hassle at all. I love the boat as do most of the people I have had aboard. I don't think you will be disappointed with a Contender. Just my .02

No one here is dissappointed with Contender as a boat. I love my 31 and JR34 is happy with his 33t. The question is more about Contender's warranty and their response to warranty claims.

Mary as for "No manufacturer other than Yamaha and maybe Mercury would do this for thier guys" I would agree with Hammer Slammer and not discount Yellowfin as they too take care of their customers very well and Rob takes care of his crew and Yellowfin owners here in the NE. I think Contender has you and Chuck to thank for the support. Back when I had a 25 it took letters to Joe Neber to get the simplest of items repaired and I was the original owner. |

Damn Trayder .... you know your stuff! I did, indeed, buy the boat from Ian who is a childhood friend of mine. As you said, it was originally owned by Jenn who chartered the boat for a while. She kept the boat in great shape and had meticulous service records and receipts.
I didnt realize that Contender's warranty was only for the original owner. Guess that answers my question! Thanks

I would like to chime in one last time on this...
there was and maybe a guy that works for Contender down here in Miami his name I think was Ian or Eain he was a spanish guy that came out once way back long ago and during a tournament he worked his ass off all night long with a bunch of other guys making sure Contender owners were taken care of in a first class manor so if you ever see him or the people who hired him understand that they down here in south florida were first class and have gold stars in my book! they have always been that way also here for any of the boats they made.

A email to me may suprise most people I am not a rock star but some would be suprise on the support that we give. Its second to none, our services have came a long way and will continue to grow. Nauti I do believe that you are a 2nd owner and may have not of been handled by White Water. Jennifer clark is the original owner of her old 31 that might have been recently sold as she bought a new 31t. I think some people have misunderstood what I am actually saying here. There is only a few select transitional dealers that do not support thier customers and its very few dealers. When I talk dealer and manufacturers I have worked with at 15 name brands and there is a different level of service. I invite Nauti to send me pictures to see what all the fuss is about, and I will see what I can do. All they can do is say no or yes. I have seen them do more than Yamaha and Mercury put together. Thier problems are limited and none of a great expense as you would see on a similar boat. I have seen certain boat manufacturers such as fountain mount thier rod holders with drains and have the drains come out over the trim tab pumps, ask a fountain owner of how many he replaces a year. Contender doesnt do stupid shit like that. All Reggie cares about is making the boat go fast, he race's and that is all he cares about, its a fact! We take our level of service as far as we can huminaly take it. Fishing support is huge to us, and there is many ways to handle things on a good dealer level. Your service don't change no matter what dealer you go to, its handle at different priorities by most. The goal is quick and painless as possible at all times. Again the problems are minimal.

I just cant believe that there is not A transferable hull warranty with A boat this expensive.I havnt posted on this thread in awhile(I thought mary would want this do die) but if you guys want to keep this going then we can do it.As A consumer I feel that it is right to sometimes talk about items that I dont feel right about and have had experience with those products, but I dont believe that A dealer or factory rep should talk openly about another guys products on an open forum. jmy2cents

My point being is that there is not a need for a transferable warranty on most boats. Every factory knows how much dollars each model has in common problems with even an price over allowance for it. If you see it in one, most likely its in all. I have never seen the #'s direct but if you think for one moment that the factory is not padding these common fixes, transferable warranties in to selling price your are 100% wrong. I have seen dealers do it and I know damn well all of the factories have to be doing it as well. If there is a major problem in my heart that the factory would stand behind it. This goes for all brands. I see how they handle thier people from the start. I have even seen dealers pay for things out of pocket. Its called goodwill and its written off at the end of the year. I have seen dealers not even get off their lazy butts and put a call in from the start then tell the customer not covered. Then it looks like the factory did it. Again I am not talking about just Contender. I have seen 2nd and 3rd owners get warranty coverage. I have seen factories pay for things that I do not agree with being covered too. Warranty is how its approached and displayed a lot of times. At Ocean Beach I was the head of warranty for 3 stores for Wellcraft, Monterey, Contender, Boston Whaler. If you the owner expressed warranty to any of the 3 locations it would come to me. I would say covered or not covered before even calling the factory. If it was borderline normal neglect or abuse I then would call the factory. There was a reason for this direct creation of a position like that. I was able to get things paid for when others could not, it was proven. Dealers build a relationship with the factory and some relationships are better than other dealers. I have even seen factories tell us no then the consumer calls and yells and then covered. Then the dealer looks like a jerk. I have sold many pre-owned contenders and never have I had someone ask about a warranty other than the engines. Never has it matter. I have never said damn if you had a transferable warranty it would of been covered. All most of the people see on here is the Contender logo in my signature and assume I work for the factory or a dealer direct.I just fish Contenders and tell people what I know. If it would make people feel better in my own sales I would offer my own personal warranty of if shit breaks on a boat I sold I will personal will pay for it, if the factory doesn't do it 1st. Moral of the story there is no need for an additional piece of paper. All and Most factories would rather take care of a structural issue or anything major before they let a guy run around and yap about it. Damage control is what its commonly referred as. I would like this thread to die, but I am not going to let people read this without having better knowledge of what they are reading. Out of all the years of me being on here, that is the 1st direct comment that I have made on another's product. The only reason that I said what I said is because they know its an issue. They have done nothing to rectify it. It has been the same way for many years and it has been brought to thier attention and they could care less. So why can't I talk about it? Yet I see guys not being able to fish over these known issues. I wish they would just do right and fix it once and for all. Let me add this piece of advice. The last place you want to try and get help with a [possible warranty problem is the internet or a public forum. Its the worst mistake that any one can make. Once it hits that point its like spilled milk. I speak with multiple variations of experiece not just one hull or factory. There is a boat for everyone it may be a fountain, yellowfin, Contender, Whaler what ever it may be you will ultimatly find the one you love and be very happy with it. Before you buy do yourself a favor and check resale 1st, its in your best interest in these times.

Jen's old 31 was just sold recently to a guy in LI as she has here new 31t as of a few months ago. Think that the boats being in similar colors and the same models people have them confused.
