I with ya Frank. I am to old to get beat up going that fast.
The last hooters boat was a Quad Mercury racing 250xs 38 Fountain, that boat certainly tore it up that is for sure.
There is even a faster one now the Corporate Cars boat has quad 300's on it and its said to be in 90 mph range.
Reggie certainly builds one the faster step hull. That man certainly likes his racing! It's just a shame that he hasn't listened to the feed back from the consumers over the years on the topsides with fishing amenities, and common sense on the plumbing and electrical systems. It would of definitely put him in a different position in today's market
Contender step hull is a breath of fresh air from that side of things. Imagine a race hull, that's built to fish.Sorry could resist!

I think that boat is now rigged with quad 300 Opti's, and based on some videos from the owner (propbender) it looks to do slightly better than 80. I think the Corporate Cars boat (also a Fountain 38) holds the current kilo center console world record at 87.6 mph.
I'm not a Fountain or a Contender guy, but in looking at the video of the stepped 33TS with triple 350's, and comparing to the 38' Fountain (also stepped) with triple 300 Verados, it seems that the TS comes up more than a little short.
I jumped on a 38' at the Miami show last week, having never been on one before, and saw 73 mph with 3 guys and 350 gallons fuel, eisinglass, radar, etc. Consider that this boat is longer in LOA, heavier by several thousand lbs, and has 150 hp less that the Contender, yet would be as fast or faster (by a mile or two) than the smaller Contender.
I think the comments on plumbing and wiring are certainly true regarding the Fountain-not very impressive.
how does the boat react when backing down? Does the stern get forced under because of the step?
