Sorry for the delay in response we had a tournament over the weekend and I was out of state and couldn't see straight by the time I got back to the hotel.

    Here goes

Difference between the 31 Open to the 31t

The 31T will accept the new higher HP motors such as the Yamaha 350's

The beam has been widen from 9'4 to 9'8.

Some may be aware or not aware that the Contender offers 10 different Consoles between all their boats. If you like the size of the 23t Console and want the extra space you can put that on any of the boats. The new 31t features a new front entry console with forward facing seat just like the 33t console but obviously scaled down. You can flush mount a whole lot of electronics dual displays and all.

The standard fuel on the 31t is now 310 with the option to add an additional 50 gallons at the building process, where the 31 open standard was 240.

The draft has changed old to new from 18 to 23.

You also have a new custom fiberglass leaning post that you can put on the 31t which has deep storage under the flip up seat as always and a rear facing seat with backrest to sit back and relax and watch the lines and the spread. Under the rear seat you also have a built in livewell which comes standard with the plumbing and a 800 gph livewell pump, the pump can also be upgraded. The plumbing can also be deleted and you can make it in to an ice chest for drinks and such.

The deadrise on the hull sent from 24.5 to 24

There are a lot of different options now available.

The hull design and deck cap are all new molds. The non-skid pattern is a little different.

The gunnel height is a little higher in the bow.

As for performance to be honest I can not tell you the difference in the ride at the moment our 31t just arrived late last week when I was aways and we will be getting her ready for the water sometime this week and I can tell you a little more about it once we get on it.

What I can tell you is the hull and everything was designed around the 33t, I call it a miniature 33t. If its anything like the 33t it will be truly amazing. Because the 33t when running her feels like you are standing on cushion on air and its a soft ride like no others.

Like I said we will be running seatrials real soon and you are more than welcome to come up and get on her when we do.

I am little slow this morning I got in from Long Island at 10 last night and I am wiped today. I may have forgotten a few things and I will put some more thought in to later on

If you have any other questions feel free to post up or give me a call normally I would say to call me on my cell but that went in to the bilge yesterday and is not working but keep it handy it will be back working soon 609-713-5540. I will be in the office all day 732-288-1000.

We splashed her today, for an early demo, its everything I expected it to be. With the new hull there is a tremendous amount of difference in the ride.

Attached it a photo as proof

    MPH 44
    GPH 23.5
    MPG 1.8

Running it conservatively Top speed no tab 58mph - 50 gallons of fuel, 3 people

I do not have them at the moment, I was talking to Billy down at the factory today. No joke not a sales pitch the 31t runs incredible. We ran the boat again today and found the sweet spot at 38mph 2.0 mpg, and we couldn't get the deck wet for trying no matter which way we went, tight circles and all.

He asked if I have gotten on the 31t with the 350's and said no. He said that he got on a couple of weeks ago and the boat ran just as awesome. The xtra weight in the back and weight shifted forward he was totally impressed with it overall from launching it to entry so on a so forth.

I will see if I can get some info on it and let you know. There is in long island but I am not sure on all the #'s

    Jason,

I haven't got much feedback on the 31T as Tailwalker Marine in Georgetown just finished rigging their new 31T w/350's as their new demo/tournament boat. The owner fished a 27T most of the season here. He said the 27T rode very similiar to the old 31. I've talked to one 27T owner that spent a considerable amount of time on an old 31 and said he felt his new 27T rode better than the old 31. As soon as I get a chance, I'm going to test the 31T. My wife and I are looking to move to the 27T or 31T for next year.

Lucky Lady - I'm real interested in your performance numbers on the 31T with 250's. If I read the above right, the 31T is faster and more economical with 250's than the old 31. Everyone I know that tournament fishes the old 31 with 250's max's out at about 54mph with a tournament load.

    Welcome aboard!

The seems to be a across the board difference

I had 5 guys, myself and kid on board yesterday again. One that has been with 2 31 open's , 1 with merc's, 1 with yami 250's 4s, and a 25 open. His partner has the most hours on the boat, he said probably 25,000 miles between the both 31's. Fiddling with the trim a little bit on the tabs and motors got us seeing 2.1 2.2.

At cruise with all of us at min 1000 lbs the boat was burning .5 better at cruise then the 2006 31 Open.

I would think loading the boat out fully 310 fuel ice gear and guys would drop it .2 -.4

Yesterday was the 1st day I get on the new 27t and wow the burn & the ride was incredible very very similar to the 31t. Obviously a little shorter on the nose, the the 31t will take sea's a little different but very nice so far topping out at 58mph.

What I will try and do today is pull Yamaha's performance bulletin on the old 31, 27 and put #'s to the old vs. new.

For the 31t w twin 350's in talking to Billy he said that he thought the boat was going to be a little bit weird with the 350's. From what I understand they shifted the fuel fwd on the boat. He said that the 31t was very impressive and very much could hold its own with no problems. He said when he launched the boat out there last he expected the re-enty to be hard and heavy and it was not the case. He was very happy with the performance across the board.

According to an owner the 31t w. 350's runs canyon loaded same burn as the 33t with trip 250's.
