I am going to build a new console for one of my boats I have a few ideas and welcome your thoughts. This boat has a very large fuel tank so the step in/down head idea can't be used. please post up!

Hey Bo,
getting ready to build one for my buddy up in havre de grace , we are going to build a low profile one with an actuator lid to install the electronics with a teak helm pod for the wheel, let me know and we'll just do a two-fer, i was thinking of maybe doing a mold for the rehab guys out there for either flats boats or the smaller center console boats .
not trying to steal your post just bouncing back some ideas to ya! maybe build um outta core cell?
Mike that is what I currently have on my boat I like the elec, on an actuators so I can drop them out of site If I have to travel,
I know we got guys out there with ideas/experience...lets hear em!!
if you build a console make sure it is functional and strong. people trust it to hold onto, brace themselves in heavy seas and most stick a t-top on them you have to build stuff to take a beating and sometimes building pads and reinforcement instead of light weight is much better. you have to be able to see over the thing have a place to view a compass without wires or electronics, have a spot for a beverage to ride without getting other stuff wet, and has to be able to get wet and still look good. sorta like your girl... make it functional!
Thanks Quest!
Make it big enough to get into and work on what ever is stuffed into it, nothing worse that having to get so contoured that you throw your back out trying to fix or get to something that you can't quite reach...
Also make your cable chase bigger than what it needs to be...![]()
I've seen this before and was wondering how the acuator's hold up to the constant pounding, especially if it was installed on a small cc? Obviously it's a much cleaner look, but between the pounding it'll take, and the fact that once it's open the console isn't water tight anymore is it worth it? Not trying to bash or question someone's work, just looking to gain a little knowledge. Thanks!
the linear actuators work very well the last one I used came from Lenco, I like it becuase the motor is inline with the thrust no off to the side like most are made, it raised and lowered the elec deck
