    Compass Troubles

Has anyone ever seen this before? I have no idea how this happened and have no idea how to fix it. Any $.02?

Judging from the size of the bubble, I'd bet you are leaking fluid. You can get refill fluid at a good marine store or here http://www.vikingoptics.com/compassoil.html...

Finding and fixing the leak may not be as easy, but adding fluid is simple -- just turn it upside down, open the fill port and fill with new fluid. You may end up with a very tiny bubble, but nothing that will bother you or impair performance. The fluid is simple mineral oil, available at any local pharmacy, etc. You could use the marine stuff, but I will bet its expensive.

Is it my imagination or is that card floating cockeyed? If it's not level there may be a problem with the gimbal. Also, some compasses have a diaphragm to keep the fluid from developing a bubble as it expands and contracts with temperature.

Between the fact that it leaks and the card isn't sitting level I would suggest contacting Richie and see about getting it serviced by them or one of their dealers. Shouldn't be unreasonable and you'll be able to have faith in the most important navigation instrument in the boat.
IE8 says this may be a phishing site....Well, DUH!!!!!!... Stupid jerks can't even spell fishing right.
