MRAA announces new CPO program

BOCA GRANDE, Fla. — The Marine Retailers Association of America in conjunction with Titan Certified has developed a Certified Pre-Owned program (CPO) that guarantees the condition of the engine, transmission, outdrive and generator to all buyers and sellers of used boats.

The program is based on the auto industry’s concept that certification helps a used car sell faster and for more money. With the MRAA’s Certified Pre-Owned program, buyers are guaranteed the boat they buy will be trouble free from any issues relating to the boat’s drivetrain. If anything happens within the guarantee’s time period, the problem will be fixed without a deductible or cost to the buyer.

“This is an exciting opportunity for our dealers to bring added value, profits, customer loyalty and new business to their locations,” said Phil Keeter, president of MRAA. “We are excited to be working with Titan and offering this exclusive program to our members.”

One of my biggest beefs with the Boat industry is the ala carte approach to the various components instead of a "bumper to bumper" approach...

Honestly I don't think its a good idea by any means It opens the consumers to another hole in the wall and the dealers another wall to slam their heads against

That sorta comes down to how the program works. Auto manufacturers seem to stand by their CPO vehicles - I guess for it to work, boat manufacturers would also have to step up - othewise, you are right - just another worldcat lemon
