Staying w/ inboard while being fast & efficient is possible, but it will cost you (I'd guess close to 1m out the door - $700k base w/ 1200 cummins hp):
http://www.thehulltruth.com/forums/t...ighlightmode=1 http://www.legendcustomyachts.com/ They are nice on the extreme end of quality and construction. I don't know anything beyond the pics on this one, but it does look interesting: http://www.thehulltruth.com/forums/t...206994&start=1 Seavee definitely is going an interesting direction offering the pod drives on there 39. CaptDom - are you hinting at your replacement to whiplash??? The Seahunt 40 (& 35) is very impressive - especially w/ the build quality & efficiency. In this size range, the comment on trips being less efficient than twins in inaccurate. Plenty guys running trips at about the same mpg as twins - just working them less hard, and getting home much quicker if one goes down. I do like the Contender 36FA - probably better than a cuddy as you can still access the bow. That would be great if they do a FA on the 39 hull (or 33t for that matter). My only complaint with the YF36 & Contender 33t/36 cc's are the lack of console space, but I guess they make up for it in fish boxes.. Other than that, I think the YF36 is probably the sweetest looking boat in that class. Seahunt has a failry large inner console space, as does the Bahama 31/41 (just wish they didn't make a step up in the 31). Jersey Cape make a nice 31' (w/ 11' beam) in a single diesel which is reasonably fast, and quite efficient. There are alot of options out there, and, you are right - nothing better than getting a show, comparing, and seatrialing. Good luck w/ it.
