Freeman...
if you put a bag over it's head will your cat run backwards??? Just kidding I do love the cats and those are great engines. cats didn't take off like the mono's down here because of supply and demand but they do run economically. and you have room.

No, but if you put tape on its back feet, it will try to shake it off for hours
]We will be at the Miami show in February. Hopefully we will give a few monos a run for their money. |

I have owned a 36 Yellowfin for 5 seasons and a 42 Yellowfin for one. If you want speed, range, economy and dry. I would sea trail a 36. There are a lot more guys running big center consoles now than 5 years ago there is a reason. I've been to Oceanographer from the top of Buzzards Bay for a day trip. I've also run just East of Hydro from Block. Not a lot of boats can make these runs and have a couple hundred gallons left. In any case sea trial, sea trial, sea trial. Rob

This CC was extremely stable and very dry. I too had never heard of Seahunter until Robby got one. They are very well built. The one I went out on had quads, but the new 300 HP's are a much better fit. I have been out on the Venture 39 as well, another sick boat. I did think the Seahunter was a fishier boat though, but could have been because of the options.... I ran an express as well, and the CC's were a much better fit for me. Options to get on bigger sporties with friends for long overnight canyon runs, a desire to have an all around inshore/offshore vessel, and a serious need to cut costs associated with running and maintaining a boat that saw action 5, maybe 6 times per week 6 months a year was an easy choice for me... Good luck with your move, I think you have done your homework as to what you are looking for in a personal vessel. Brand is just a matter of preference from owner to owner, what they are looking for may not be what the next guy wants...go do a sea trial on as many of them you can, to find the right fit with the right options for you. I may be able to get you on a seahunter for a ride in the NE area, PM me if interested.

we did the celophane cig. wrapers ...
on our cat once ...all 4 feet with small rubber bands to hold them on, it did a crazy jig and made us laugh so hard. the cats though have a hull design that runs more economical but not as fast. but you still get there just 5 minutes later.. I fished a yellow belly once in matinella shoals.. you do need full grundens to get aboard the boat.

what kind of fising do u ?? Mostly canyon chunking or billfishing? Do u fish tourneys and will you fish em in the cc?? Some of the mid 30s cc are awesome like the contender 33. It will fish with the big boats offshore and u will feel safe. I have fished one in 10 ft. seas during tourneys (just released) My question is do they raise fish like deisel boats. In my opinion the jury is still out, but if tourney and marlin fishin is not important- by all means your logic of swapping a cramped 40 sportboat for a shore house makes alot of sense to me. good luck

Best Catch: There is always something better!

A lot depends on what type of fishing you plan on doing 39 Seavee - From what I understand an awesome ride. A few unnecessary breakable bells n whistles here and there. No cuddy available. Side tuna door 38 Jupiter - People love them. Personally never rode on the 38. No cuddy available. New 39 Contender to be released, there is a lot of input coming out of the NE for what we do. Hull is done and topside is being laid out, should have full specs and line drawings on it soon. Prototype should be released at Miami show Contender 36 Cuddy - Cuddy is huge, and the sky is the limit with options inside and out. Huge platform the whole nine yards. I like the S console that they offer on this boat its a perfect fit Contender 36 Fisharound - The walkaround is laid out very well, has just enough cabin to suit, full size head/shower, sleeping room, amenities can be added tv/dvd, microwave, the whole nine yards. Generator heat ac Contender 38 Express - Is an express it runs awesome. Powered with outboards. This is a nice fishing family boat. If you are they type of person that would like to go trump marina for the wknd or ship her down to FLA and run to the Bahamas for the weekend. Tons of storage and fishing room and an awesome cruise and ride. 39 Venture Cuddy - Is a real pretty boat, great for the family. A tank, a little on the slow side. I don't like how you can't walk around the strb side of the console. It reminds me of a midnight express. The transom area has a distance issue for fishing. The cuddy has a few quirks that I would see if they would rearrange for longevity. The fuel burn is pretty bad on her. Midnight Express - Just don't do it Stepped Hull -The 38 Fountains runs fast and well in some waters but others it tracks hard, and kidney failure is possible. The boats fish well but are not designed or laid out the best. Re-Sale is pretty tough as well, market is floodedStepped Hull - 42 Yellowfin has quite a few quirks to it. Beautiful boat to most. I personally don't like the overall look of YF's in general. The sleeper console height too high for most average people to see clearly over and the bow adds to the blindness as well when bringing it on plane. Ride I would imagine is good. The feedback I hear on it is 50/50. Stepped Hull - Donzi makes another pretty ship and is comparable to a fountain. Re-sale is real tough, market is flooded. Some of the boats are more custom than others. Some have no dealer/service network at all depending on your area. Your best bet is to book a trip to the Miami boat show in Feb and get a ride on all these and make a decision from there. Stay for at least 4 days show is huge. Also the weather is bound to kick up at some point and its a true test. Its not a good idea to buy without climbing and riding. I will be down there and I would be more than happy to show you around. Its not a secret I love my Contenders, but I am not bias to it one bit. There is a perfect boat for everyone. There are little things here or there than will mean the world to you and your fishing. If you enjoy your family and fishing time there are a few that I would stay away from. Many reasons resale, ride, overall design and traits etc. I hope this helps. If there is anything I can do to help or more info give me a yell 609-713-5540 or drop me an email. If you are looking to get on one of the boats sooner than later let me know I will find one in your area to get on to.
