cats 3126 420 hp????

any thoughts on these motors??? looking at a boat 2001 with these motors with 1200 hrs on them. thanks

Original blocks were made in France and were of a porous material. They were a problem. Cat replaced those deffective blocks and since then I believe them to be a reliable motor. I have these models in my boat and they have been bullet proof. Tranny service has been an issue but the engines have been strong.
Just my two cents but I'm sure there are as many opinions as there are members on SFC.

I have the 3126 in a 420hp. No problems. Very dependable. Great motor.

we have the 3126 300hp and i know thats an awsome motor so i would imagine that the 420 is just as good

i`ve had my 3126 T/A 420 for 4 yaers now.. no problems.. easy to maintain.. great hp and torque .. twin disc gear.. good to go

Cat screwed up but made good on those bad blocks. I think those blocks were from around 1995 or 6 not 2001. Why do I remember? I bought a set of those early ones. they made good. as far as transmission thats not cat?

I HAVE A PR WITH 3000 HRS STILL QUIET, SMOKEFREE + GOOD ON FUEL. GREAT ACCELERATION OUT OF THE HOLE. I ALSO HAD BLOCK PROBLEMS, WHICH CAT MADE GOOD ON. NO REAL COMPLAINTS . EASY TO SERVICE
