Actually it can be done with a single too! I read a write up a while back on an I/O with a bow thruster tht did it and they are working on a single inboard installation just a couple miles away from me as we type. Not sure if the single inboard also requires a stern thruster or not, maybe rudder throw is increased to compensate. My excellent local Twin-Disc rep is at the factory now and will be down next week to start laying out the system, I'll know more details then.

CAT is saying they fixed the bugs with the Navistar on-road engine but it is being built at the same plant in England (gulp). The owners son has one of those in his truck and just spent a fortune repairing a problem after low miles. This may change their minds. Either way it would have full CAT warranties and service so the first years shouldn't be an issue but resale might later. Anticipated delivery dates are close now so we're looking real hard at C7's now as an alternate. Little less power but still plenty for a 37. Here's a couple of pics as she sits now, should I start a build thread guys?
Navistar claimed they had fixed the bugs too. Ford finally had to design their own engine. Of course their pouring the cab over it and letting it harden didn't help matters. When step one in the service manual says "Remove cab" you're just begging for trouble. If it was me, I'd be leery of even using it as a mooring because it's pretty much failed at everything it's ever tried to do. That being said, if they reduce the amount of emissions junk on it for a marine application, there actually were a few good design features. I don't know if they make up for the bad ones though.

    BTW, nice looking hull.

They always do. Actually, the constant load of marine use, plus the... ahem... limited hours, often leads to engines living longer than common knowledge would predict. Remember Toroflows?
