Cat air filters
I use foam elements on the air filters on my 3116 Cat and wondering if there is a diference between foam and paper elements?
I can't swing Airseps at this time and cleaning the foam can be a pain with the Diesel/oil blow by.
Is anyone using elements other than the Cat ones?

Tautog,
Airseps oughta be required on all marine engines in my book. They have many benifits that can't be realized until you run with them for a while. Over time they actually help pay for themselves, good investment for the boats powerplant. Frank

filters are very simple to me..
give them lots of air! clean, no water drips air, cool air even airceps are great but $$$$...even cleaner is high $...! look into K~n~N filters.. cheap easy to adapt to anything and looks great! all the yanmars, cats, volvos <~~( the ugliest air intake ever!!!...), and gas engines I look after build or re-power with get them. I found them by the way after loosing power on a set of yanmar 440's .. rivets had come loose inside the air silencer housing and taken a trip through what was a pretty turbo... a short run to my favorite KnN outlet with my intake measurements and they were looking 'Phat' and running great.. get all the air you can.. but do it economical in 2010
inspect your air.!!!!.. take digital pics of your air... know what your babys are breathing....! those rivets cost $1,710.00 + 2 hrs labor ... yanmars sure run out nice!
