There is a guy in Annapolis Md, named Reid Bandy who is building some sweet center consoles with that type of look. His number is 410-956-9496. I have riden on his center console and the ride is sweet, he also builds a nice 35 express. I'd try looking him up before making any decisions, he is one of the smartest men I know when it comes to boats.

He can also do it in a single diesel.

    calyber boats

I've been to the factory in edenton n.c. meet jim murphy the owner very well build boat second to none in finish, materials etc. i had aked him about the tramsom deadrise. he said that given the extremly sharp entry at the bow this slices the wave breaking it making the 11 degrees deadrise not an issue. plus the boat will drift better than most boast with a 24 degree deadrise. The entry at the bow is extremly sharp the steepest entry i've ever seen on boats of this class. i have a 25 carolina classic and the 27 calyber entry is steeper how ever the 27 calyber is lighter. with this being said i would do 3 things especialy when buying a boat that is a custom, high $$ boat. i've never rode on on a calyber .
    1. go to the factory/ try to speak to other owners
    2. go on a sea trail when it's blowing 15kt run her at crusing speed in all conditions of the sea
    3. never take the brokers word for it tell him it all comes down to the ride that the transome deadrise issue is a concern get this in writing if you have to.(give him the depoist go for the ride they ask for a deposit only to see how serious you are if you have the $$...i don't think they can cash it until you make settlement on the boat.

    YOU CAN'T BEAT THIS BOAT

This boat builder has got it going on. I can tell you this is a great ride. What can I say , Its a Carolina boat. Well constructed with no cut corners. If you want a rig with good sea abilities, this is it! Sharp entry with a flattened out stern. Great fishing platform. Carolina boats were designed over time for those great sea keeping abilities. With that flare, youll stay dry and be able to run in rough seas. You should do the sea trial. You'll be sorry if you don't.

Reid makes a nice boat!! I hopped aboard the 35 at the Annpolis Boatshow. Great Looking rig!! I talked to him about the 35 for a about an hour. He does know alot about boats. I saw his plan for a 30 center console with a twin screw diesel for 120. Did you ride on the 26 single outboard?

Blackwell- they look like great boats very nice clean lookiing. I wouldnt spend that much on that rig. If thats the same one Hmy is selling. Also Check out OBX boatworks, and Bandy Boatworks. Ill get a link for Obx later and If you want Ill get some line drawings for a Bandy up.

if this boat was a single inboard I would be all over it.That is what I really want.

I like the looks of the Obx very much.I really want to shy away from outboards.Plus single screws are more fun to drive. This boat looks like a perfect home for a 380 hp. cummins.

I used to own a 25 Classic too. I stopped and looked at those boats in Edenton. They are sooo nice and I really liked them. But just can't get past the outboards. If you are going to pay that kind of money for a small offshore boat I can't see not having inboard. Really nice boats for sure. Love to have an inboard diesel model.

Bandy Boatworks is in Annapolis, Md call Reid or email him at rbandy@comcast.net , 410-956-9496

Reid currently is building a 30 center console with twin diesels staggered cigarrette style. Expected 30 knot cruise at 1.4 mpg I believe. The 30 is available in single screw or twin screw diesel or twin outboard.

The Outerbanks Boatworks hulls are very well built (like most other hand built NC hulls). Most of what you'll see from them will have outboards hangning on the back and Billy will do everything in his power to talk you into outboards. BUT he will install an inboard if you desire. He just finished up a 29 or 30 with a single diesel that went somewhere like Burmuda.

If I were having a small custom built, I'd get Billy Dupree at OBX to build it. Yes, he lives under 3 minutes from my house but I don't base my decision on that. By living where I do I get to see alot of boat building from different builders. Some are better than others and I wouldn't hessitate to sign a contract with Outerbanks Boatworks.

    Just my opinion.
