Calling WORLD CAT owners, Transducer help

Trying to get some first hand info on what type of transducers you guys are running. Mine is about shot. I have been using a transom mount because in the past I have always heard of cat owners having issues with thru-hull ones, but Im sure technology has improved a lot in the past 4 years or so. What suggestions does the SFC world have?

Hey John. I'll reply since nobody answered yet. As you know I don't have a WC, but I sound my fishfinder right through my hull with this.

Awesome transducer. I'll never have a tru hull again. No reason you couldn't do the same provided the hull isn't cored. You can get a smaller one if space is a problem. I had Midshore do the install and recommend them very highly if you need someone.

Thanks Ralph. I actually had a nice chat with Don yesterday and he had some good suggestions. I agree that they do great work over at Midshore. I replaced my electronics last year and had them redesign the whole setup and I couldnt be happier.

No can't get water temp. You would need a seperate thru hull temp probe. I have two of those and it's OK because it's flush with the hull. I never liked those big tranducers hanging off the bottom of my boat. I think a few of those can slow the boat down and can get damaged by debirs. I've had two leak and one actually spun around 90 degrees.

Just had Don from Mid Shore over on the boat and he said that cat owners have had success with the thru hull in the bilge. I only have room in there for a 600 watt one, so thats what was just ordered. Ralph, thanks for reminding me that the temp probe is separate, just had to add that to the order. Will report back once its all installed and I have a performance review.

Find out if you can still use the existing transducer but only for the temp before ordering a seperate piece.

unfortunately, the temp guage is already off but the good news is I found out the one I ordered has the temp sensor included. I was shocked that there was not a separate charge for something having to do with the boat...i guess i did something right in a previous life.

Trident, that 33 is a beautiful rig!! At this point I am basically committed. I wouldve liked to have gone with the 1kw thru hull but there wasnt enough room in the bilge. I will def report back on the results. We need to pull the boat, so I prob wont have the install done until the end of the month when I will be docked for about 2 weeks anyway.
