just go through the hatch if your worried about getting on the bow if its sporty. Go with a painted toe rail nice and rounded.

Mike,
You've seen these pictures before, but it seems you may need a reminder of how nice varnished teak toerails can look.
Nice big beefy toerails, with an attractive profile to them, varnished up all pretty like so they gleam in the sun.
You've got a big boat, with a huge foredeck. All of which is paint. You've got to frame it with some natural wood to set off both the paint and the toerail. IMHO, of course.
Have your guys scribe 'em, shape 'em and screw 'em to the deck. It's child's play compared to doing the transom or the cockpit cover boards.
Looking forward to seeing some color on that boat.
Mark
Nice!!!!!!![]()
If it aint broke, don't fix it.
Please do not put any kind of aluminim or metal bow/toe rail on this fine looking boat.
It deserves a Mahogany toe rail, I think the shape of the ones that are on Gamefishermans would look good on your boat.
She deserves a high gloss toe rail, don't subject her to metal on the bow.
Lookin good BTW.

Ok Ok,
That moment has passed. Mark's pictures and Capt. Jay's post seals it.
Mark, yep I remember that toe rail is classic. Sweet.
We're going to be going for some color soon. I selected Awlgrip Insignia White for the deck and cabin sides and Fighting Lady Yellow for the hull. Once again back to a classic color combination.
I just think the Fighting Lady Yellow will look so bice with the Mahogany transom and teak covering boards. Insigna White should sparkle and stand out.
Next decission is bottom color and boot stripe color. The Green bottom looks classic. But then black also look good. Still deciding.
Any suggestons?
Mike,
We haven't spoken in a while, but I've been watching your posts and on this one, I have to agree with the traditionalists. You and the build crew have gone through sooo much to make your dream ride a reality. Leaving the inner skeleton exposed and staining it to "show off" is just beautiful and the work on the transom and covering boards......IMHO...continue it on with the toe rail.
With that crew you have and the awesome work they have done so far, I am sure they can attach a toe rail that will drain properly and not allow pooling of water as you suggested.
Enter the bow from the hatch if it is not too far a jump from the forward stateroom. A small safety rail running forward from the hatch to the windlass may be something to consider or just a safety line that you can clip onto a forward cleat. If it is too snotty to go through the hatch, you probably shouldn't be out there. If you had an emergency and needed to get to the bow for some reason, you could tie off a safety line to one of the tower legs.
She is coming along really nice. I mean GREAT!!!! Keep the photos coming, I can't wait to see the one where she is floating.
You beat me to the post....anyway glad to see you decided to stick to the toe rail.
Fighting Lady Yellow. I like black bottom paint, but with your transom, it just might be highlighted better with green...boot should match whichever bottom is chosen.
Well, my boat is FLY with a kelly green boot and a medium green botom.
I used to have a black bottom, but is looks better with green in my opinion.
