This forum was brought to my attention by someone I know in the business and I want to take a moment to clarify the incorrect information posted. The product that was taken off the boat was sold to the individual building the boat, this has been a customer for several years. After several attempts to collect the monies and several different stories we decided to take the product back. We DID NOT do this by breaking into the boat or any other illegal ways. We simply contacted the builder in person and he said he still had not been paid for the units and we were more than welcome to go take them out. We proceeded to do just that in a professional manner. We were later contacted by the owners of the vessels and threatened several times to be arrested. We were contacted by the Deputy Sheriff and told we were being investigated for the situation at hand. After the Deputy Sheriff and DA discussed pressing charges it was at their discretion not press charges because WE WERE GIVEN PERMISSION BY THE BUILDER TO REMOVE THE PRODUCT THAT HAD NOT BEEN PAID FOR. I contacted the owners personally to discuss the matter and to let them know what really took place. I find it hard to believe this individual would be on the internet slandering our business when he has never dealt directly with us. Feel free to contact me at 1-888-GO VETUS.

The boat was privately owned, with a bill of sale in the possession of the owner. The owner paid the builder for the bow-thruster. We were not notified by Vetus that the bow-thruster had been re-possessed. We, the owners, became aware of this when we went to bring our boat home and the thruster was gone. At that point, we contacted Vetus. End of story, period.

There seems to be parts of this story missing somewhere

dude that sucks. glad i read this. even happier i don't need a bow thruster cause i'd now know I would never buy from **tus after reading about this nightmare. make your own judgments but it sure seems like you got ho-sed! sorry pal. i'm sure a competitor might find this a good opportunity to give you a discount to give you a happy ending to this story. good luck

3 years 130K, excuse after excuse from the builder and now the thruster gets repo'd...and your pissed at the repo man...
THE SLACK ASS BUILDER DIDNT PAY FOR THE PART..repo man is the only one here who has a clue. The rest of you have lost any semblance of common sense. When you contract a company to build you ANYTHING , you have a contract..and in that contract there's a payment schedule and a time frame, miss a set percentage of completion..you don't get payed,Simple. Aparently a very high persentage of money was paid and it still wasnt completed...and with no motors installed...you both screwed the pooch on this one ,amigo. But if your looking for someone to blame for this mess....look in the mirror.
Repo man was told by the builder "come and get it" its his property..and the bow thruster belongs to the seller until its paid for. your SOL.

Vetus' contract was with the builder, not with you. Therefore their action was with the builder. I'm going to guess, that you've never had the pleasure of selling something to somebody who will not pay for it. I have, and as far as I'm concerned it's exactly the same as stealing. There's a reason that there are collection agencies and repo-men. And guess what, when you buy something that's stolen you don't get to keep it or get compensation when the cops come a knockin'. Jewelery, ipods and bow thrusters, it all works the same.

Unfortunately, your only remedy would appear to be going after the builder who seems to be a worthless deadbeat that you will get nothing from. It really sucks, I know, but there's where you're at. Time to call an attorney and spend more money that you're not likely to get back.

Seems like you should have gotten the whole story before you went after the supplier here online. You might be very close to a counter suite for slander.

If you posted this to warm other potential customers of Vetus you could have at least called them to try to work something out. Now you my friend are SOL. Try being nice it will get you a lot more in the long run.
