I never thought I would say I want a smaller boat....
But, 95% of the time I fish inshore or the ches. bay I roll solo.
Im looking for the perfect, utility, stable 21-23' 4 stroke boat.
A few thoughts that come to mind: ( please add your input...)
Tower/ upper station required
dont need a **** ton of fuel storage.
enough dead rise in the rear for a decent ride
flared bow
8-3" to 8'6 beam
no frills no plastic hatches
transom kill box
cold molded or frp
no bull ****
I plan on using this boat in the ches. bay (god awful chop) fishing for stripers etc. and from va beach to carolina sight fishing for drum and cobia.
I need to be able to fly fish on the boat as well.
Now. I m not looking for a 23' boat to take to the gulfstream or fish in super nasty stuff. I do want something that is going to ride better than a bathtub when the weather man takes a nap.....
I already have a bigger diesel center console for the nasty stuff and offshore fishing. I think I would enjoy something smaller for the quick bay trips.
I have considered building a cold molded boat. Never built a boat... I did work on an old chris craft restoration when I was a kid, and I'm a carpenter by trade.
Jones brothers has a couple in that line along with Edgewater... They have them both at Annapolis boat sales. Walter can take good care of what ever you need....
just a warning , a tower on a 23 with alot of deadrise is kinda risky. had a friend with a 23 jones bros with a tower roll over this year in the bay. it had two good size boys in the tower lookin for cobies, saw one and spun around and over they went. i wouldnt put a tower on anything smaller than 26 . just sayin. good luck on the boat hunt.
I downsized when we starting having kids. This little boat has been a battlewagon, but it's easy to launch and recover. It munches chop and pretty good in the skinny water too. You could put a station on a hardtop, but I would keep it to a single person station. No transom kill box, but a large one up front. Don't think they've made this model for a number of years, you will have to find a used one.

Friend of mine on the board here (downeastguide) has a 23' Parker with a tower, full transom with a transom kill box. Give him a call, he can give you a report on his boat as he charters for everything that you are asking for a boat to do. Down East Guide Service
