    Boat tool bag?

What are all the necessary tools you should always have onboard?
    So far I have,
fuses, multiples of all sizes used in my elec. system
    spare bulbs for bow,stern light
assortment of elec. connectors, crimpers, wire stripper, wire cutter
    screwdrivers, adjustable wrench, vice grips
    bottle of spray lube
prop nut wrench, couple cotter pins
    couple extra dock lines
That's the contents of my bag I leave in my center console. Can you think of anything else?
Digging deeper just found a tube of 4200 and a spare bilge plug.

I'll look in my box this weekend to see what I carry. I know there are several tools that I have used over the years and when I need them and do not have them onboard I add them to the box. This really needs to be two separate lists; one for tools & one for spares/repair parts/consumables. Most of what you have listed are not tools. A non-tool type things that come to mind right away are: duct tape, electrical tape, hose clamps, ty-wraps, screws-bolts, can of spray polyurethane foam, mask-fins-snorkel, extra batteries, waterproof markers, roll of heavy duty large plastic bags. The list can get huge and you need to sort out what is required for your boat both by size and where you use it.

Sounds like you have a pretty good start on it.
How about a couple pair of Channel Locks
    Wooden plugs
a few feet of awg #12 wire
    duct tape
Gasket material for emergency hose repair/silicone
    Ball peen hammer
I carry special tools that I need every so often like a special size allen wrench.
Get yourself a cheap digital voltmeter for trouble shooting.

I also reccommend those water tight plastic ammo type containers. I keep my hard tools, wrenches, pliers and such in one and fragile things like lamps fuses and my voltmeter in the other.
I know I have a ton of other crap on the boat but the above is what came to mind first.

I have most of the above, and probably a bunch of other stuff I don't even know about....LOL

I have a couple big Rubbermaid Bins that are packed with tools, spare parts, paperwork, you name it.....and it seems every time I think of somethign else, I toss it in there.....I probably have dupes of a lot of it. If I think of something I think I don't have, I toss it in there before I forget.

I think this is another post I will end up printing and using while I repack the boat this year

    Sell tackle for no profit:)
It sounds like a good list that we have started, and I think your list will cahnge the older your boat gets. It wouldn't hurt to take some spare spark plugs and a deep enough (plug wrench) to change the plugs. Zip ties may be useful and also some fast reacting epoxy. Thats all I can think of for now. How bout a six pack. LOL

Looks like I'll be adding a some more stuff!! Probably should of mentioned that it is a 23' CC with single outboard, and I only have room for the neccessities. The furthest trips I make are 65 miles out, 65 back.
Almost forgot a very important piece- BOTTLE OPENER!

I seen a guy when I was in Florida that had all his tools sucked air tight in those food saver bags. He said they never get wet so they dont rust. Pretty impressive. A center console boat, and I find it hard to beileve there was anything dry on that boat when we returned.
