I'm fond of the 27 contender... The one I run a few times a summer is an absolute rocket. From the elbow of the Hudson to Sandy Hook is only 2 hours!

The buddy has Carolina flare... Seems that looses some of the room inside? Can't talk knowingly about the Cape...

Havn't been on the 27 Venture... The 34 though just seems ... well... not solid to me on the ones I have been on...

Thanks paul.. The contenders are just SO much money.. the new 27t is looking around 160+ while the venture is the same and the cape is about 140 for the 31...

Out of curiosity, have you considered late model used? Man there are a slug of cream puffs waiting to be gobbled up at very fair pricing... Talk to Lucky Lady, I know of nobody more in the know than her on Contenders...
I just got done with three weeks of car shopping. Numbers thrown at the start are not the numbers at the end of a deal. Theres always negotiation. The ones that threw me low figures all tried to sneak fees and crap back in on the other side. What seemed like the high numbers actually negotiated down below the "low ball" figures...

All 4 of the boats on your list are of quality. A boat not on your list is the Southport.
I will be having a demo weekend here in Ocean City, Md this weekend. Though it is a long drive I think you would be doing your self a favor to check them out. At the very least you will have a benchmark to compare the other boats on your list.
PM me and I would be glad to give you some pricing.
We will have a 26 CC (26'6" x 9'6") and a 28 CC (28''6" x 10'6"). Both with twin Yamaha 250 Four Strokes.
Doug

I have been thinking that paul.. but the problem i have is the fact that i got to trade in my 33 express to get out of.. I own it outright and can not sell it for chit! lol been trying for 2 years now and no one serious enough because i do not know why but they havent.. thinking maybe because it is not a really well known name! can not even get anyone to look at it but it is a sweet boat just to much for me now with a house, a kid on the way, and a wife... rather have something to take with me on the back of my truck!

I'm familiar with your situation... I considered selling Deep C as I'm so busy with the other boats. Probem is that the market right now sucks scuppers. I've got what I think is a fair market amount invested but right now selling can't get close to that.... If somebody threw me an offer near what she should be it I would possibly let her go but not really interested in trying to list and go through all the other stuff just to get her ready for sale... So its mothballs for her for a while...
I have a buddy in the exact same predicament. He has a Bertram 28 that he can't get even the new dealers to take on trade...

Yeah i here ya paul.. it is not easy.. it sucks right now.. i got 30k alone into this boat and that is not counting the 60k in motors the year before i bought it.. i got a good trade in value on it but i do not know about buying a boat and trading in something i owe nothing on to get into another 100k finance.. just doesnt make much sense to me right now but that could change in a few hours when i get on my ride with matt over at coty marine down the road from my house on a 27 venture!

Boat looks sweet and i checked it out last night.. just a lot to chew and swallow when you get into these numbers! YIKES!!

It hurts but i think it might pay off in the long run when i gt a boat all rigged soup to nuts and really can not lose when i buy it since i am trading a nice boat in and having easy 45-50 percent equity in it already!

Guess time will tell.. going to be a long drawn out process and going to take some time but i am hoping to work it out over the next month or few months!

Help with what boat to buy

All of the boats you have mentioned are great boats. I however prefer the Cape Horn for many reasons from cost, build, ride, ease of cleaning to customer support from the factory as well as dealer, etc. That is why I bought my second Cape Horn just recently and if I get my way my third as soon as the dumb stock market gets moving again. Any ways check out Joe or Ross from Cardinal Yacht Sales. I believe they have a few 31CH’s at very fair pricing. Get a ride on a CH, if you are looking for the best value/ride you can get for your money.
Good Luck on your search
Carl
