What a piece of work. Gorgeous wood work. You dont see many boats built with that kind of attention to detail anymore. Congrats! Cant wait to see the progress. Please keep pics coming!

Well we've moved a little closer to a splash date.
4 Video's taken by a rookie. (Myself)
I should send some footage to Flatbottom for a professional look. Bow http://blip.tv/file/708725 Lifting strake http://blip.tv/file/708745 Cockpit http://blip.tv/file/708805 A Fish Box the Soprano's would be proud of: http://blip.tv/file/709063/ Some of these pictures are rather dusty as a result of them being taken was the topsides were in the process of being faired out. These 2 images are pictures of the Burma teak covering boards laid over some awesome looking mahogany gunnel skirts. ![]() ![]() Here's a good clean picture of the gunnal covers. You may have noticed in the video that there is now a transom door cut out to the left of where Bill, the master builder is standing. You can see the door frame in raw wood over to the far left. ![]() Check out that corner. Hey wait boats aren't suppose to have corners! That purple wood is called Purpleheart. It's one of the strongest woods on earth. The keel is made up entirely of that wood and it was installed so it's totally separated from the Douglas fir keelson by layers of fiberglass. The nice thing about using that wood for a keel is it absorbs water at a very very slow rate. I could go on and on writing about how each piece of lumber below the waterline has been installed. Each and every piece is independently encapsulated and separated from one another so if one piece were to sustain damage water would only wick into that one piece which could be cut out and replaced. ![]() Starboard side for the cockpit looking towards the aft port side. It looks like there's a lot of work left but believe it or not this is the state it is in prior to a lot of pieces being installed. All of which are made and ready to be installed. ![]() Teak covering boards and engine mounts. The engine mounts are on their way to the powder coating company. ![]() This is a view from the bow, port side. The final fairing of the hull is in process. Long boarding is happening and it won't be long now before she has a yacht quality finish. There was a lot of hours spent making sure she was built as fair as possible prior to the glass work being done. We did not want to have an excessive amount of filler on this baby. Check out that shear line and flair. This picture was taken off a platform located off the bow and it's from a perspective of about 12' off of the floor. ![]() That's all I have for now! |
