Hey James,
It's been a while. We'd love to be there this summer, but at this point I'm thinking the fall may be more realistic. Mike Last edited by Fortunate One; 12-21-2007 at 12:07 AM. |

Come on Mike, light a fire under their arses! That boat needs to be prowling the canyons by mid-July. Heck, the B25 might need a mothership for poker games and such!!!

Here ya go Angler Systems, I'm in the process of downloading pictures to electronic key chains so as they were loading I was surfing and saw the request for some pics so I figured I'll post some. You may have seen some of these previously but they are good ones so if someone hasn't seen them ,,,, enjoy!
Here's one I took last week. It shows how cavernous the cabin is ![]() Here's a shot of the gunnel structure. They've cut in a recess for a gusset for added strength on the corners. The combing board has to be added. The teak board installed on top won't be as wide as the sides. believe it or not removing a few inches in the width of the transom board makes a huge difference in the comfort experienced in leadering and gaffing a fish. ![]() Here are a couple of my favorite pictures. The first one in the below deck fish box. I don't have the picture of it on this computer but there are pieces of foam insulation encapsulated in fiberglass and resin that got installed on the fish box after the fish box was installed. The fish box was fully insulated when it was constructed. These pieces were installed around the bottom and sides under the deck after the box was installed in order to keep the deck cut out to a minimum. The joke is we'll only need 1 5lb bag of ice to keep the box cold. ![]() The next one is my brother in the box. He's not a Wahoo but he's close. Get it "Wahoo in the Box" . Anyway he's 6'-1" tall and there's room between his head and feet and the fish box wall. You can get some idea of how deep the box is also.![]() I like this shot also. Margery is toiling away on the sub-decking. This woman loves her work and she takes a lot of pride in what she builds. I don't know of many people that actually work in a field that they have a passion for. ![]() The 2 aluminum fuel tanks arriving and being off loaded. ![]() The 2 fuel tanks installed. Look at the packaging material on the top and between the tanks. The crew is maticulous about keeping things looking good. ![]() If you look closely you'll see the recesses for the custom stainless steel strut pads as well as the recesses for the custom stainless steel trim tab plates. The guys were working on rudder/strut/prop alignment and mock up at the time this picture was taken. ![]() Here's an example of the craftsmanship that goes into a splice on a spray rail. Furniture quality work eventually covered by glass and never to be seen again. Knowing that it's work like that, that will be under my feet makes me feel real comfortable. ![]() And the keel. This was constructed from a wood called Purpleheart. It's one of the strongest woods available. It's also very resistant to absorbing water. It's considered a sacrificial piece. It's totally separated from the hull structure. The hull was glassed and the keel was then installed on top of it and then glassed to the hull. Any splice that was required was also glassed so the darn thing is not only bullet proof it's contained. On top of that this keel is bolted onto a full-length keelson made from Douglas fir. ![]() Check out the glass work at then end of the keel ![]() An old picture but a good one. It really shows what's she's made of. ![]() Here's an early photo of a side elevation. Since then a wood and glass windscreen has been designed. She may look like just another 48' Express but looks are very deceiving. ![]() Last edited by Fortunate One; 12-24-2007 at 03:48 PM. |

Nice looking rig, I know you must enjoy the build process also. Keep the photos coming, I really enjoy seeing the progress and how everybody has a different way of doing things.
Good luck, Troy |

Being this involved in your personal boat has got to be as stressfull as it is rewarding. I am sure in the end there will be a lot of emotional attachment and you will have it forever! It looks great, looking forward to the finish!

It certainly has been very nice weather to work outside in New England.
![]() ![]() ![]() 1800 HP in the hold. Although I wish they were 1800 HP each. Perhaps on the next one. The nice thing is there's ample room to get around to each side. |
