I have crawled around several blackwells from 45 to 60 feet, and fished Mexico and Venezuela on a 60. Some are built better than others. I won't bash the ones I found problems on, but would rather point out the better ones out there. Instigator, both of the Pumpin Hards, and the Infinity all seem to be holding up well.

I think the old Baby Doll, I can't think of what it is called now, is probably the best looking boat Craig has ever built.

And I guarantee Charlie doesn't cut the Infinity any slack The Instigator has won plenty of tourney $...I attribute a lot of that to Dave and Josh but the boat flat raises fish and gets a pretty thorough test fishing in Hatteras every Spring. Not the best riding Carolina boats, but I certainly don't think they are crap and would have no problem buying one especially if Frankie surveyed it

azul,

It is apparent through your well reasoned and highly informitive posts on all subjects related to Custom Carolina Builders that you are an expert. I'm not sure how this site got by before you arrived but rest assured your tremendous insights have not gone unnoticed.

I own the 65' that is shown in this slide show and is also on the front page of Blackwells website. I have nothing but good things to say about my boat. The funny thing about these negative comments is most people don't know that Craig used to work on Paul Spencers charter boat fixing it when it was broken.

"Crackwell" ,thats why he is the only builder in Wancheese that offers a 5 year hull warranty.

You have one sweet baby there. Gorgeous machine. Pay no mind to the young boy. He will find out why bridges made of steel and concret are here for many years, "the hard way"

Franky would you mind going through every video thread I have and let me know where the "cracks" are. Better yet. take the boy with you. He can see better than most here. You and me partners franky. I will make the vids and you pic out the good ones.

Trae sweet sled man !! If you have a small or large video of her running I would be humbled and side it in here....thanks flat

Flat, unlike alot of Marine Surveyors I have met over the years, i can't survey a boat from my office looking at the pics the owner or his friend sends me

Believe me I was not bashing Blackwells, I have seen many good ones, and have also seen some bad, but as any surveyor will tell you (or at least the ones that are worthwhile) any builder can have a bad boat. I don't care who it is, Hatt, Bert, Ricky, Buddy, Richie, Paul, Ocean, Post, Regulator, Contender, Grady..... All have at least one out there with a problem or two or 20. And a good portion of the time the bad boats are not the fault of the builder, rather the fault of the operator.

Dan's center console is a 28' Blackwell. Go to Blackwellboatworks.com hit the pictures and you can see the boat.
