Question Bildge pump ?

...I have to replace the 1100GPH Rule pump in my Se Pro, so I got a new one yesterday and after reading the install instructions it says to fuse the circut between the pump and the switch....now my currant set-up, which is factory rigged has no fuse, just a circut breaker on the dash between the switch and the pump....I know this is ok and works like it should but do I still need a in-line fuse or is the lone circut breaker acceptable

they do the same job just work in two different ways. when a fuse blows you have to replace it when a breaker popps you just reset it

It's good as long as the wires are able to carry the breaker's rated current. There are charts to determine the wire gauge required based on the load and the length of the run. I know the Worst Marine catalog usually has one in it. Don't forget, on DC it's the total length of the run positive and negative.

Hope this helps.

Cool

IF its a three wire pump and the automatic wire runs straight to the battery, that must be fused.

they are 2 wire pumps. on and off, untill you add a float switch, that makes them a three wire pump. three wire pump has the float switch built into it. thats the only differance. and yes both + side of the pump need to be fused. or circuit breaker.

ok, understand...the float switch is still inplace, I'm replacing the pump because I think some debris got inside and jambed or broke something and the pump just keep tripping the breaker on the dash, so the pump I'm replacing is the same 2 wire 1100GPH Rule thats in the boat now, so no worries, right.....
