Best way to remove barnacles from transducer
Just curious what is the best way to remove barnacles from the face of my transducer it was a bad year for growth??
Any ideas will be appreciated.

Scrape em and hope the residual doesn't interfere with the pings. Plan on getting a new transducer though....chances are it's toasted.
Let us know if you figure out a way.

Scrape them, wet sand off the rings and you should be fine depending on the quality of the transducer. If its plastic take it easy on the sanding, scrape gently. If its a Bronze housing set in Epoxy you should be fine.
Put transducer paint on next year if you want. I usually try to scrub mine a few times during the year when I'm in the water, depending on where it is mounted, that may be easier said than done. I still got a few this fall. Mine is a transom mount right now.

Like he said above. Careful scrape... If dry enough most of the barnacle base goes first shot. Easy on the sandpaper and you should be good to go.
