Best inboards for new project boat?

40' racing hull being gutted and re-fitted for fishing/diving. What are some options for an efficient re-powering strategy?

I heard someone talking about a new volvo that just came out?

Thanks, Noah

I have run Yanmars and Cummins diamond series and love the yanmars over the cummins. Better economy and much less smoke and noise.

A friend has a similar boat he repowered with yanmars, I believe he's getting about 2.5 mpg @ 35mph

that is all good but what is important in choosing a new engine package, is price and service. both of which is important. if service is not an issue than, yanmar, cat, cummins, Volvo all make nice engines.

I Have Volvo's now and i have to say i really like them. they are very nice, clean reliable.

just for kicks call Cummins and see if they have ...

the 6 bta's they re-furb them in factory and they offer great warrantee and a fantastic price.. worth by far looking at for savings and I do think you get 2 years on warrantee.
