Bayliss vs. Spencer

I've been on Spencer boats but haven't had the pleasure to be on a Bayliss yet. If you have been on both, can you compare them(design, run, exterior, interiors...etc? Tell which one you prefer?

Please discuss and post pictures if you have them...thanks!!!

Best Catch: The next bite on a jig.
Bayliss is known for high end interiors and trim work. Paul Manns if you are looking for a charter boat. Spencer falls somewhere in between, building boats that are know for there speed.

Agree with Sea Draggin. A Bayliss is essentially a very nice Spencer. It has a similar ride, but the trim packages are off the charts. I think that most of the Bayliss boats are in the $3mil + range.

a noticeable difference that i've seen is that in the salon and cabin, spencers tend to be a bit more narrow, sacrificing cabin space to make a smaller hole in the water. to save aerodynamics, spencers lose around 1-1.5 feet in the top of the salon when compared to the footboard. basically with the bulkhead removed, the salon sides look like this: /....\ . doesnt sound like much, but you see it and feel it. Bayliss boats make very good use of all cabin and salon space, and sacrificing space for performance is to a lesser degree than the spencer boats. I also prefer the bayliss cockpit layouts that I've seen compared to the spencers, but that is a moot point since you can have them lay it out however you like.

JimmyC,

I think the Bayliss's are more like 4.5 to 5 million. But the Bayliss is a sweet boat especially the Seven.

Love both of them. Would be a toss up for me. The only thing I have seen is a little less room in the engine room on the Bayless. Both fish fish great and can haulass too.

Let me know if you are needing a Capt. I'll come running!!

Thanks a lot guys!!!

So basically what you are saying is that both boats ride great but Bayliss makes better use of space and their interiors are more luxurious?

Good to hear something positive from Bayliss ride. I've been very very IMPRESSED with the Spencer's ride. Since I know a lot about the Spencer's any more feedback on the Bayliss is welcomed.

Sea Draggin: This would not be a charter boat. But thanks for the Mann suggestion. I already checked them out.

costaricasportfishing: Are you out of Los Sueños? Maybe we have met, I've been going there every year since 2002 between January and April.
